which is better - nuggets or mixed gP food

but would it be better to feed them the nuggets instead as they always seem to dig for their fave bits that go to the bottom of the mix..

i just want to make sure they are eating enough and not missing out on the nutrients they need.
 
I personally prefer to feed nuggets/pellets because they stop the piggies selectively eating just the bits they like. I feed mine Burgess Supa Guiness Excel (pellets) and PAH nuggets are fine too :)
 
Haven't been a piggie mum long enough to advise properly, but I found mine only picked out the bits they liked too. I have started introducing them to the nuggets, and they do seem to like them. They are better in that they get all the nutrients they need on one chunk, and they can't feed selectively.

Some people on here seem to give nuggets most of the time, then a shake of museli as a treat?

Try your pigs on nuggets and see how you get on...as long as they're getting plenty of veg nutrtionally they should be ok...
 
yeah i do that teabag, mine get nuggets and as an occasional treat i mix a little handful into their dish of muesli because they like it :)
 
I give mine the same thing as you give yours and they get LOADS of veg aswell
 
hi mine get the nuggets too, its better for them and lasts longer. Never thought of giving them museli as a treat might try it next time in P@H.
 
Rodney eats muesli, I have tried to introduce him to nuggets but he refuses to eat it.
Violet eats P@H Nuggets and occassionaly Science Selective.
They both eat lots of fruit and veg also.
 
I am in the process of changing over the the Supa Guinea Excel after they were very picky with the tesco mix, leaving a good deal of it behind and picking out their favourite bits.

Must admit I was a bit worried they would throw the Excel back at me! However, they absolutely love it! I'm surprised because when I got it out of the bag I thought yuk. It reminds me of dog food to be honest.

The other thing I noticed is, from the loud crunching noises, it seems to be quite hard stuff too. They really work at it when they eat it.
 
my piggies prefer mix. i tried to feed them on nuggets but they refuse to eat it. they like nuggets mixed in with the mix though, they just wont eat it on its own.
 
:) I feed Cavy Cuisine and get a sack of muesli in once in a while- either Rabbit Royale or Wagg.
 
i give pellets/nuggets and personally i think they're better as they get alll they need in every bit. they also looove them! i give them a muesliish thing as a treat/snack occasionally. :)
