Thanks for looking, getting decent food in the uk is tricky.

Hi love, have a peep up the top and you'll see some threads that show peoples experiences etc.. with the foods they've tried. You'll find most of the advice is from people in the UK :)

There's a few people on here that use the Burgess Excel :)

I use a combination of P@H nuggets, burgess excel nuggets, science selective nuggets and wagg muesli. It is a nightmare when I come to do their food but I couldn't decide which one so they get a mix each day and they eat each them all fine!

There are four pretty good quality foods available in UK:

- Oxbow Cavy Cuisine
- Science Selective Guinea Pig
- Burgess Excel Guinea Pig
- Wagg Optimum

The Pets at Home nuggets are also fine to feed, they are most similar to Burgess Excel. All of the above are plain pellets (without seeds, flaked maize, flaked peas and corn etc.).

Oxbow is available mostly online, but there are a fair few pet shops and vets that stock it. You can always ask your local supplier to see if they can get it if you wanted to try and get it locally, but buying online is usually easy enough. Oxbow Cavy Cuisine is considered the highest quality guinea pig dry food you can get almost anywhere in the world. It is expensive though - £9 something for 2kg. It is certainly cheaper when bought in 4.5kg bags, it costs around £13.

Science Selective is alfalfa-based, so is a little higher in calcium and protein. However, since pellets should be limited in an adult guinea pigs diet anyway (a handful per pig, per day), I find it works out well and it is a nice quality feed.

I believe Wagg Optimum is fairly similar to Burgess Excel as well, and it works out at a good price.
