Which vet should I go to to confirm the sex of my guinea pig?

Well I will be getting my guinea pig a male friend and I want to confirm that he is male. I dont know how to do this myself so I would need to get the vet. Well I got two vets to choose.

One is my local vet who deals with my cats, dogs, horses. He doesnt deal with small animals much at all. I have never heard of him dealing with them except for a rabbit getting his nails done. He knows us and its just 5mins down d road from our house.
Or a small animal vet, about an hour from the house so its out of the way. But they deal with small animals.

Which should I choose. Its just to get his sex confirmed.

A lot of vets don't know how to sex guinea pigs, so I'd go for the small animal clinic.

You could try posting pics of his bits on here and we might be able to tell. What age is he again? If he is 2 months or so, then I think we'd hopefully be able to tell from a photo.

Guinealynx is the best website at the moment. But if you can take a reasonably clear picture of your new boy's bits and post it on here, we have enough experienced rescue people to give you an opinion!

If you prefer to go through a vet, go to the small animal clinic. We have had cases of missexing from inexperienced vets before which caused some serious in-breeding and a lot of heartache in one case!

Thanks everyone. I will try and take a pic of him sometime so, wont be for a while as hes still very scared. I will try soon though.
He is around 3months old now.
