Hi everyone,
I’m looking at building a run for my guinea pigs as their old one is a bit worse for wear. I’m going to b and q today but I’m not 100% on which wood to get and if it is safe for the guineas. (Attached picture of the wood I’m looking at) I don’t want to spend a lot of money on it to realise that it’s harmful to them! I was looking at treated timber, Will it be okay?

If that is pine, then it’s safe. Kiln dried pine is ok whereas pine which is air dried is not safe. Aspen is also ok. It would be lovely to see some photos of you piggies in their run when it’s completed :D

If you are making a run you really want tanalised timber as it is treated to protect it from the weather. I used some from Wickes a few years ago to make a run and it is still going strong. Just make sure you use treated timber as this way the run will last longer.

I made a piggy palace a while ago. As soon as I put it in with the boys, they started to ‘modify’ it 😂
Yes my boys do this all the time that’s why I wanted to be certain before they nibble it to shreds 😂😂😂😂
