Hi all. We were on holiday last week so my 4 piggies went into boarding, where they have been many times before. They came back last Sunday and none seemed very happy. They hid at the back and had forgotten all routines like parsley supper time, and wheeking for brekkie like they normally do as they live in sight of the fridge.
In particular I'm worried about Mickey who is a 3-4 year old sow.
Monday morning she couldn't seem to walk very well and hobbled around and then was very lethargic, lying around. Still eating though.
She seemed to improve over next few days and is now back to normal walking.
All piggies still seem off their food. Eating but not like they used to.
Tonight Mickey has been lying in the hay box making a whimpering sound for quite a while and has now moved downstairs into the igloo hut, where 2 other piggies have also gone in to snuggle up to her and the 4th is hovering by the door, and she is still whimpering. Would they have sensed he's not well and looking after her?
I know there's not much medical wise to go on here, but suffice to say something's not right and I don't know what. Any thoughts please? Thanks...

It is possible that they know she is not well. I really think she needs to see a vet as soon as possible if she is whimpering, it sounds like she could be in pain. I am concerned that none of them are eating normally though too, do you know how they were housed when in boarding? and what they were fed?

Very sadly Mickey has passed away through the night :-(
They've been in boarding before. They are usually very pampered piggies inside but they stayed in a big hutch in a lean too to it wasn't as luxurious as normal!
I'm hoping maybe they've all been upset with Mickey being ill so may now settle down. They were fed fresh veg and grass, and their normal dry food. :-(

I'm so sorry for your loss. I would keep a close eye on your other piggies and if they are still seeming a bit off-colour I would take them to the vet sooner rather than later just in case they have all picked something up. Fingers crossed they are ok. I would also start weighing them daily as this will also give you a good indication as to how they are.

Sending you big hugs.

Popcorn free Mickey x

Thank you, I will do. Already the other piggies seem more settled, so fingers crossed!
