Hi Guys,

Two out of my boars have like a white film or bloom on one of their ears -Currant looks like the very egde of his ear has almost rotted in the corner. I am going to the vet tommorow - but would be gratefull for some advice to go armed with. It is not in the ear - only on the outer ear. They seem happy in themselves - but I am very concerned. These are my first ever piggies and I get very worried. :...

All I can come up with is dirty, waxy ears! Sorry. Are there any other symptoms you could refer to? Maybe some pictures would help.

First choice would be fungal i would expect.... please correct me it i am wrong!

Often it is just dry skin, put some aloe vera ointment, or moisturising cream, on the ears in the first instance.
When the warmer weather finally arrives and the pigs go out on the lawn for a run (walk) put sun block on the ears, they can easily become sun-burnt.

Hi, I was thinking it could be fungal, but it doesn't look like ringworm (which they had when I first got them, poor guys). I've rubbed in some nappy rash cream - benpanthen, just in case it's irritating him for tonight, but I'm afraid its the vets tomorrow.

Every time I get the camera out they run off - I think they must be able to hear something I can't because they are not overly shy - but I will get some pictures, if only to show you how gorgeous they all are (I am madly in love with them)!

Thank you for all your replies - I really appreciate it. x>>

Hello every body,

The vet diagnosed mites! So... not sure where on earth they got those from?

I've just ordered loads of stuff from gorgeous guineas too - just to sooth the itching!
