A lady had two guinea pigs on preloved - free to a good home, she said they were a gift off her ex and because they were from her ex she no longer wanted them @)

When I was looking at the girls they both had a white discharge on their vaginas - it seemed to be of a chalky texture - it wasn't runny or anything it was just sort of there...sorry for the really bad description :( I don'thave pics as tey are not my pigs yet.

I was wondering if anyone knew what this could be? Sorry if it's something really basic I've just never heard of it before and am a bit concerned...I'm meant to be calling the lady tomorrow to tell her if I want them - I think I will take them regardless, because that way if they are ill I can get them to the vet

just a stab in the dark - could be a high calcium content in their wee
mine get a white discharge but ot kind of milky
maybe its drying on them - to a chalky white powder

its a diet thing and easy to remidy

sorry hun I have no clue what it might be :(
but I hope it is something like a high calcium diet then can be easily sorted

xx

I have had sows in the past that would get a bit of a white discharge when they came into season.
As that is only for a day it didnt last long so if these girls still have it after a few days I would pop them along to the vet.
I would actually be tempted to pop them along either way.

If that is correct then it cannot be urine!
You say that it looked chalky, did it feel rough, like sand?

it didn't feel rough - it felt like...a thick creamy substance
sorry I feel like I'm not really helping you much to figure out what it might be :(

sorry I'm round my friends house, I don't have the net at home and it auto logged her back in :red

Is there any chance that they could have been in contact with boars?

Still on my friends account was easier then logging back and forth as she is waiting for an email on here from a mod and there is only one computer - sorry for any confusion :red

The lady said she had had a boar but that "they hadn't really mixed" her words..so..erm maybe? :... sorry :(

Hhhmmmmm, I would be tempted to be on pregnancy watch then because a mated female can have that look down below but then again so can an in season female.
You never know, she could have let them in together and now decides that she doesnt want to deal with babies and that once they are someone elses piggies then it is their problem...incredibly immoral of her.
I would definately be on pregnancy watch.

how far along would they be for this discharge to be seen if it is a pregnancy?

If they are pregnant and gave birth to some boars I live in a bungalow so would boars in one room sows in another be enough distance for the boars not to smell the sows and fight?

I have pairs of boars and pairs of sows living in adjacent cages, separated by a few inches, ie within direct sight of one another and I have never known any fighting or disturbance.
