Hiya,

So recently we lost one of our senior piggies to bloat, shortly after this all 3 remaining pigs got a small white crusty scab in their noses which is very very slowly growing in size.
We've already been to the vets, had Blake put under anaesthetic so they can take a bio sample and it's testing negative for a fungal infection/ringworm.
They don't rub themselves on anything, they have no other symptoms at all (this has been going on for a month) and they're generally in good health with their usual amount of energy.
Our skinny pig has lost all the hair she has on her nose.
I've booked in for another appointment at the vets but they seem to be puzzled that it isn't ringworm.
They've all been on metacam and hibiscus nose baths.

Has anyone had anything like this before?
It's small white and flakey but it's scabby, not just skin. I'd like to try and avoid having Blake put under again if possible.

Thanks
Xx

Is the black and ginger a skinny? If not I would take to vet again (is your vet experienced with guinea pigs?). As for the other, some pigs have a nose strip that doesn’t give them issues. But if it’s getting bigger I would take them again... let us see what others say.

Yeah black and ginger is a skinny, it's definitely getting bigger but the vets seem a bit stumped. I've booked them in again but it's driving me bonkers not knowing

Also yeah, they've an exotic vet in Manchester that the RSPCA uses and recommends x

Sorry about the loss of your piggy.

All 3 of my pigs developed a nose stripe not long after I got them over 3 years ago and it hadn't caused any problem. Someone said it might be fungal.

I see other pigs with this, there's one on the black piggies thread.

2 of the photos you put up could be nose stripe but one looks quite different? 2020-01-29 22.19.48.webp
