I recently adopted jimin (as I've renamed him)but I've been away for 2 weeks and only came back today.I've just got jimin out and saw he has white patches on his ears, nose and a patch on his back leg, they weren't there when I left 2 weeks ago.IMG_20190622_191344.webpIMG_20190622_191332.webpFrom looking at him I think he's a rex crossed with possibly an Abyssinian and I know Rex's can get dry skin.Could it be that or a possible fungal infection?

Hi!

Please have jhims vet checked for fungal, potentially ringworm.

Thank you, I was worried about that. Will a general vet be able to diagnose or shall I try and get an appointment at the cat and rabbit clinic?

A general vet should be able to diagnose it.

You need exposure to ringworm spores, first and foremost; they can come sitting in the coat or are in the environment.

Not always. Mine have had fungal for no apparent cause. But usually it is piggies with compromised immune system (usually due to stress or illness) who come out with it. Where did he come from and how long have you had him? I’m not sure how long the incubation period is, sorry x

He came from Neville's nest but I picked him up on the Wednesday and left on the Saturday and he didn't have any signs then.I've had him for 2 and a half weeks x

Incubation period is 10-14 days with ringworm. It can be another form of fungal, but stress and the kind of damp but relatively warm air like we have had lately combine to a prime breeding environment for fungal skin infections. And any change of home is a stressful occasion for a guinea pig.

Thank you, I thought stress could contribute to fungal/ringworm.Ill get him seen at my local vets tomorrow.

Jimin has been prescribed intrafungal? Oral solution once a day for 2 weeks. The vet was pretty sure it's ringworm.Guiseppe hasn't got it at the moment but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
