Hello, just wanted to gather some information - I will, of course, take the girlies to the vets in necessary, however I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do in the mean time, and also what this could be.

Both of my girlies, every time without fail, leave white splodges in their wee. I thought it was just excess calcium due to their previous diet, and was hoping that after being rescued and being put on a varied, low calcium diet, they would be fine. However, I had the girlies out on my bed today, and both decided to pee in sync - resulting in this thick, white paste in their pee. I will, of course, attach pictures. When we picked up Nelli, this white paste was all over her "bits", pictured below.

I have felt it both wet and dry (about as delightful as it sounds), and it feels powdery - not really any lumps or crystals in it. However, I am starting to get quite concerned about this, especially when I saw them produce this fresh - it literally came out all over the duvet right in front of my eyes. On top of that, Lulu's pee is FOUL in smell - I'm very familiar with the regular piggy urine scent, and this is way way worse and more potent.

Thankfully, neither of the girls are squeaking whilst peeing, or pooping. They seem fine in themselves. They drink about as much as my other piggies, have a lovely appetite, and like to explore.

I have tried syringing them extra water, but they are just not having ANY of it.. I can barely get 0.5ml in them, regardless of whether they're on the bed, wrapped up like a burrito etc. I've been giving them plenty of cucumber, covering their veggies in water etc, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Is this anything I can treat at home? Or is it more severe, needing vet care (hopefully we would be able to get this for them, given the current virus situation). Also, I have those urinalysis dipsticks, are these worth trying on the girls to check for the urine content?

Hi!

The white sludge looks like calcium pees. In combination with very strongly stale smelling pee this can signal the very onset of a cystitis of some sort; either bacterial (which can be healed by an antibiotic) or sterile (can't be cured by an antibiotic as it is non-bacterial). It can take several days for symptoms to firm up and be consistent enough for a diagnosis.
At this early stage, pees containing traces of blood can be interspersed with blood-free pees; the same goes if you get intensively red porphyrine pees which can test free of blood while clear pees can contain a lot of it. Very smelly pee or fluid from the womb are usually a sign of infection.

Book a vet appointment or phone consultation during regular opening hours when you get to the porphyrine or squeaky pees stage.
