My daughter has had her Guinea pig, KitKat, for about 3 months. While cleaning her cage, we found these white string looking things. KitKat is taken out of her cage to exercise and is handled daily and we've never seen the string things on her or coming out of her. My daughter asked a teacher at school (who owns and LOVES Guinea pigs) about it and the teacher told her it could be something with her urine but if she's eating, drinking, acting normally that its probably nothing. Upon just my own research I found things that said white strings found in a Guinea pig's cage could be semen. KitKat has been eating, drinking, and acting normally and seems perfectly fine. However, we were told that KitKat is a girl. I do know people are often given the wrong info about the sex of their Guinea pig. So I'm wondering if that's most likely what happened? Also if there's another explanation for finding something like that? I've tried to do my own research but mostly I'm finding things that say that finding white string looking things in a Guinea pigs cage is semen. I'd think if it was some sort of worms that would be found in/on her poop (which always looks normal).

Hi they sound very much like sperm rods. If you post a clear picture of kitKats bits we will be able to help sex her/him. Also does KitKat live alone? As if he/she’s missexed there could be a potential pregnancy.

Does Kitkat live alone or with a friend? Might be worth getting a second opinion on the sex.
