Kanga Pig is on her own as of yesterday. She will need a new friend soon and I am thinking about who that might be.
Kanga had her ovaries removed (because of cysts) in March of this year so there is no way she will ever reproduce. Am I right in thinking she could be paired with an entire boar, should that become my only option? I haven't made any enquiries about piggies yet, this is just idle speculation right now, and trying to set my search parameters.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Yes, she could be paired with an entire boar. I had the same pairing a few years ago. Lovely couple. Miss them both.

Good luck with your search.

You are absolutely right. As a spayed sow, Kanga has all options available to her in terms of a new cage mate. It really comes down to her choice of who she likes and is willing to share her cage with. Good luck with the hunt for a new companion.

Hi

A spayed sow has the widest field of options, from other sows (single or young bonded pair) to both neutered and full boars (only singles). Gender or age are much less crucial than mutual liking and character compatibility; my biggest age gap was a baby with a nearly 8 years old sow at the end of her life to prevent the 'husboar' from being alone after he lost all 4 wives unexpectely within a year, including the one that was younger than him and that shoul have seen him out. It was lovely to see how little Dryw was perking up old Hedydd shortly before her body gave up from old age.

If you can get to a rescue that offers dating that would allow Kanga Pig to have a say in who she wants to be with so you come home only with a piggy where acceptance has happened and you have the rescue to fall back if there are problems. Some older ladies may decide that they prefer their own territory but they still profit from interaction through the bars with one or two neighbours.
This new guide also contains a chapter on rescue dating that you may find interesting. It does list the advantages and potential pitfalls with the various places you can get piggies from: Rescues (Adoption and Dating), Shops, Breeders or Online? - What to consider when getting guinea pigs

Thank you Wiebke, I'm not sure how near our closest 'dating agency' is now that Little Pip's has closed. I had a look on the map on here but couldn't see anything closer than Bristol. I will investigate and see what I can find out.
Yes, I would not put two boars with a sow, it would have to be a single one.

Unfortunately, there is very little in terms of rescues, never mind good ones, in your neck of the woods. :(
Bristol is the closest. However, it is well worth travelling a bit further, as I know from my own experiences.

I am struggling to find any pigs for adoption around here at all.
