Any one else have picky Guinea Pigs? When my boys were little, they wouldn't eat anything other than hay and sometimes pellets. They refused to eat any kind of vegetable or fruit. I have had Guinea Pigs most of my life and usually they will eat anything you put in front of them! 🤣 So when I took in these two boys, I couldn't understand why they were so against literally everything. Eventually I got them to try carrots by shaving them with a potato peeler for a couple of weeks and giving them the thin slices. (Thankfully, I don't have to peel them anymore.) It took nearly a whole month of putting lettuce in their cage before they would actually try it, and now they love it.

Years later, carrots and lettuce is still all my piggy will eat as far as vegetables go. He he won't eat any fruits. The same went for my other one who we just recently lost. I just find it so funny how there are actually piggies out there who are spoilt enough to be able to refuse fruits and veggies! Anyone else have a piggy like mine?

Greedy piggies here! They'll eat most things, in fact, I've kept pigs for 25 years and they've all been greedy pigs. That said, Bertie wasn't keen on basil when they first had some, but after a few days it became one of favourite things.

Have you tried any herbs rather than veggies? Most find the smell irresistible ♥️

Another vote for herbs from Ziggy and Bertie.

I sure do☹️My 4 will not eat hay if they get carrot. All they will do is wait hoping for more carrot. I really have to limit them. If I give them quite a bit more romaine as a treat it is the same thing so to keep their teeth trimmed proper I give mainly hay. They get romaine but limited. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The problem maybe that they were never given fresh food as babies. If they came from a big commercial breeder the only food on offer may have been hay and pellets. Piggies learn about about different foods from other pigs, ie if someone else is eating it they will give it a try too. It could be your boys never had this learning experience.
