When bonding a sow and boar, who is best to be neutered or is it a case of they both need to be done?

it is only necessary to have one neutered, usually the boar as the associated risks involved for boars are much less than for sows. Also there is not the same health benefit for sows as for female rabbits who are highly prone to uterine cancer and should always be speyed whether or not they live with a male rabbit.

When finding a sow to bond with, does it work like boar dating when they can choose their own pig-wife?
Sorry for the questions, I was just thinking the best way to go around it if one of my boys were to go to the rainbow bridge before the other.

Yes, many rescues will offer this service. Although generally speaking it is easier to bond a boar and a sow than two boars, there is always the possibility they will take a strong dislike to one an other.

If you go to a reputable rescue then two boars can be bonded successfully and have a strong bond. I'm a big boar fan and have many happy bonded pairs and a group :)

I have 2 boars at the moment. Both going through puberty so it's a rumbling ruckus in our house. Was just toying with the idea of getting a sow one day.
