Who has had mange?

Hello everyone,
Who's guineas have had mange before? I have lost 3 of mine to mange. If your guineas ever have mange use revolution.
Here is Alisha. RIP my baby!

And here is Lola, Alisha and Zoey. Lola had a bit of mange then...

If your guineas have ever had mange please post some pics of them so I know that I'm not alone.

I am sorry that you lost your lovely piggies to mange because you didn't take them to a vet and/or used a proper course of treatment. Mites are eminently treatable if the poor piggies are not too far gone yet and suffering from fitting and loss of appetite.

My guinea pigs have had mange mites several times over the years; they are just going through a course at the moment. It was never a big deal because they were seen by a vet promptly and got treated with an ivermectin containing product.

When you have pets, you always need to put money aside for medical treatment. Guinea pigs have a life expenctancy of 4-7 years, and it is very likely that they get ill or suffer from parasites during that time. If you are underage, it is your parents' lawful responsibility. Here in Britain, they could be prosecuted for neglect.

PS: Rvolution is specific to Australia and the US. We have other products in Britain.

I'n my vet's you can pay money on to your account as and when you want so you can save via them, i'm aiming to save three hundred (Tho i won't stop when i get there cos i have 8 pig's i would just feel more secure when there's at least that much in there), i am lucky enough to have someone local who has acess to medicene for piggie's and is very knowledgeable for lice mite's fungal etc but saving some money with my vet's means treatment can start asap for thing's i can't treat like dental or one of the million's of other thing's that can go wrong, this would also be for the two hamster's we have (soon to be three cos i want a syrian8...) it take's the pressure off when something does go wrong

One of my guinea pigs got mange once. She got really big scabs really quickly, she was so itchy, but we got her treated straight away and she got better within 1-2 weeks.

So sorry you lost yours. That's really sad.

Hi guys again.
Most of you are wondering why I didn't take them to the vet. Believe me, I sure wanted to! I am only 12 so I can not go there with out my parents permission. Mum is a recovery nurse and she thought she knew best. (She did not.) I think she caused a bit of pain to them.8...8... I tried to stop her. I wanted to use my own money to take her to the vet but the vet said that it would be $410 and might no work. (For one guinea pig BTW.) By that stage Lola and Alisha had passed away. I had Zoey for a while. I came on this forum and people advised me to get revolution. I brought that off the internet. I applied it to Zoey as soon as possible. It looked like all of the mange was gone but I lost her at the age of 3 or 4.
Listen, if I could go back in time and my parents thought more of my babies they would have been rushed to the vet as soon as Lola had it. I remember my parents saying "Guinea pigs are not worth it" I say "Why did you take Wookie (our dog) to the vet then?" they say "Because that's different."

I know have the correct treatment for any disease because I know better but my parents do not.

"Dog are more important" 8...8...

P.S Even if I had gotten the treatment before Lola and Alisha died it would have been way too late. Their case was realllllllllyyy bad.....

That's so sad when parents won't help your animals So sorry you lost them, it must have been hard.
