I don't really mean this! However I've spent the last couple of months designing and building my pampered little pigs the biggest cage I can fit into our kitchen! The ground floor is about 7 foot by 2 foot with a ramp into a little attic (about 2 foot by 1 foot).

Of course they spent about 75% of their time all snuggled up and squashed together in the attic!

Here is the whole cage:

and here is where they choose to spend their time:

Does make you wonder why you bother sometimes but it does make cleaning them out easier. I only need to clean the ground floor once a week. The little towels in the attic needs cleaning every 2 days!

They are contrary little animals aren't they? Does anyone else's piggies all squash up in a corner rather than make the most of their space?

they do prefer the smaller spaces :) i let mine have full run of the flat and they all cram under the linen basket or the clothes airer!

i love the cage.

My pigs don't have a c&c but they get to run around the whole of the living room but spend all their time by the door running round the ironing board propped up behind it. Then after so long they go to sleep behind it.

It's lovely that they choose to snuggle up together like that though, if you'd intended on them doing it they wouldn't have lol.

Thank you - I am really pleased with how its turned out!

Seeing as how they don't sleep on the ground floor, it's pretty much big enough for me to add a pillow and single duvet and sleep in there myself! Now that would be funny - imagine waking up with a little pig tucked in beside you :))

Sometimes they're squashed up so much they only take up half the attic! It's very cute really, I'm so pleased they love each other so much!

Awww, so cute! Mine spend a lot of time squashed together in a cosy corner or the hayloft too but it's nice to see that they have the space when they do occasionally choose to use it! Rocket in particular loves doing laps round and round the bottom floor and up and down the ramp to the hayloft - but then he is only 3 months old, my other 3 are well into middle age which would explain the lolling about! :)

Ha ha - glad it's not just mine! Rocket sounds like he was named appropriately!

When we let them out for a 'run' in the living room, they explore for about 10 minutes then all curl up in a corner and sleep. I do have some lazy piggies.

You're right that they never do what you intend for them though. I made them a litter tray and have put all their hay/water/food in there. I'm even making them walk into the litter tray to get treats off me. However they finish eating and go and poo in the attic! Typical!

You have a gorgeous lot!

My Tribe spends most of the time squashed up in their nooks and crannies in the cage, too - even though they have the whole living room to roam during the day! But they enjoy the space in those times when they are not plonked out!

Aw thank you - sometimes I just want to jump in and join in the cuddle-fest! Don't think they'd appreciate it though!

I got my first guinea pig when I was 9 I used to sneak him off to bed with me so I could cuddle, but I'd fall asleep so my mum would have to come looking for him. I wake up in the morning and panic that I'd lost him.

I'd like to live in some of these houses I see...well if I was guinea pig :))

At any point did they observe you making the cage?

Did they see how much effort you put into it?

Were they watching as you proudly stepped back and looked at the product of all your hard work?

The answers to these questions could be key! ;)

That cage looks fantastic. Your little ones are so cute and it is so lovely they are so close and like to snuggle up.:)

What a great piggy palace! I love it! Oh, and the pigture of them all cuddled up is adorable! x)

Yes he was, I had narrowed the list ( a very long one!) down to Pablo and Rocket, it had to be Rocket once I saw the speed he could move at - he quite literally pings from one point to another, all you can see is the vapour trail! :))

Rofl! Oh you've made me laugh! :))

I've learned the error of my ways however - they were in the next door room in their old cage while the building work was going on! If only I'd known!

Thank you everyone for the compliments though, my piggies are going to get big heads! Although if I pass on all the compliments about the house, they may start to appreciate it more!

My OH says the attic is their teenage crash-pad and we shouldn't disturb them up there. It's where they go when they want to get away from the parents and do naughty things like having midnight raves, spending all day sleeping and playing on their x-box!

Have you seen the sleeping bag at the back of the first photo. It was 2 that I bought off ebay (one black and one purple) but Peggy (the big black fluffy one!) couldn't turn round in them so I opened them up and stitched them together to make a double sleeping bag but even that can't tempt them down from their attic!

Lol! They are absolutely gorgeous x)

I have just built my cage, very similar to yours. The upstairs is supposed to be a hayloft. From the looks of things, piggies may have other ideas!

Lovely pictures, Thanks for posting :))

I put a primark paper bag in last night full of hay to try and give them something else to do other than sleep in the attic and all 3 are spending most of their time in the bag.

So never mind about bothering with a big cage, just put your pigs in a paper bag! (Joking, obviously!)

They did suggest that next time they'd prefer a selfridges or louis vuitton bag and kindly requested that I didn't post any pictures of them on the internet of them in the primark bag. Their reputation would be in tatters...
