We've had Daisy since July and because we use cotton sheets as bedding we discovered not long after that she likes to eat the cotton. She's been living with Fudge and Autumn since last Sunday and her nibbling is getting worse. I caught her really having a good go at the sheets this morning and she nibbles that carpet when she's out for a run - she's also teaching Autumn it's ok to nibble the carpet. Why does she do this? Whilst typing this I've just had to move her again. Is cotton bad for her?

I was worried about this sort of thing and started a thread http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=58536 have a read as I was given plenty of reassurance. My Eliza is very naughty indeed and has taught her 3 friends what to do although she is still the worse!

There really isn't much that you can do to stop her I'm afraid apart from moving things away from her. Eliza has eaten fly netting, cord, carpet and many other things and she is perfectly fine.

I wouldn't worry to much xx

my boys nearly ate my house! Late Rene and late Bertie would nibble the carpet, devour the skirting boards/futon, pull off the threads of the sheep-skin effect rug (it had a bald area in the end!). When Finlay arrived, it took him about 30 mins to learn the ropes, and he was only 3 1/2 weeks old!
They also ate their way through most of the house cabling! I had to give a school laptop back pretending the charger cable was worn because of excessive folding to fit in case! I wasn't really worried, except for the house!

Daisy's the worse for nibbling. We had to replace the laptop charger cable last month, the skirting has bite marks on it, she's had a go at the metal plate on the armchair, theres holes in the snuggle sacs and she loves to bite boars (except for Fudge). At least I know there's nothing wrong with her teeth!
