You're not gonna like this mallethead

My guineapig Rodney, is 5 years old and he only started having this about a year ago.

Every few weeks, he'll eject something from his bum, that looks like a large plum stone.

It's disgusting, and it smells terrible.

Is this normal?

It scared me when he said he did it mallethead

Right thanks for telling me..... Please can you tell me why it happens? Or am I asking too much :red

I suspect it's boar glue - what comes out of a penis and dries up. Some boys produce quite a bit of it occasionally.

Could be impaction...? Is it a soft ball?

And bullseye, stop winding innocent young people up!

Thankyou Laura :)

It looks like suede! It's really odd. It looks like poo all wrapped together.

Thats sounds like an impaction to me.
Here is Wonderful information on it.

The picture that can give you an idea of what it kinda looks like is:

The first one with the poopies sticking out.

i hope this helps. PS... I think the penis cleaning part of this is kinda gross... but thats just me ;)

Thankyou :)

I'm very sure it's not impaction, because it is no where as bad as that.

No problem. I don't know if it is from what your saying but it could be a mild case of it. My suggestion would be to keep an eye on it and see if it get worse.

Maybe it's just the first signs of impaction, could be worth keeping an eye on it, because it could end up like the picture.:...

Thankyou :)

That case is particularly bad & not all piggies are affected to that extent but from what you describe it really does sound like he's starting to suffer with impaction. You need to check him over every day & help relieve him of any lump that may be there & offer it back to him - he may or may not eat it but it is beneficial to him if he will :)
