Why does my guinea pig only popcorns when I put her back in her cage?

I got my guinea pig Amethyst near the end of January and can’t find a way for her to trust me fully and noticed that she only popcorns when I put her back in her cage. She isn’t my first guinea pig. I had to give up my first one due to a pet policy, but he always clung to me and trusted me, as well as popcorn when ever I played with him. About a year after, I got Amethyst and I can’t seem to get her to trust me or come out of her hiding spot. What am I doing wrong and why does she only popcorn when I put her back in her cage?
 
Get your pig a friend, they get more confident👍. One of my pigs trashes his cage when i put him back and i dont know why lol
 
Guinea pigs are social animals so they really need to be with their own kind. It really helps them become confident, happy and healthy. In some countries it’s actually illegal to have a single guinea pig as it’s considered cruel.

It might be worth having a look through some of the guides on here and maybe showing them to your folks. Hopefully that will help them understand the cage requirements and companionship needs as well as bonding with pigs :)
