So for the past week or so he does not go up his ladder to the top of his cage anymore? anyone know a reasno why not? He used to go up there all the time. but he does not do it anymore and I cant figure out why?
I dont know what happened? weird he used to go up there and lay down and sleep, I have treats up there and he just doesnt seem to want to go up there any longer, dont know what happened...
If you upload a picture of your cage maybe we can come with suggestions on how to improve the ramp? I'm thinking something like Bailey too, that he may have gotten a fright from it somehow.
yeah maybe he fell off at some point, but he has jumped off many times, I will jsut have to put him up there more and give food up there so he knows hes ok.
its like a 6 inch drop to soft padding. and he has jumped up there and down so many times, I dont know why he would be scared about it.. The ladder is proped up also to make it easier to walk but he just jumps up there most of the time...
Yes a picture would help alot! Gilbert had this problem at one point in his life. He was spooked from the ramp probably because he had some bad experiences of slipping or falling off it. I had to tape some carpet on the ramp so he had a better grip. Now he goes up there ALL the time without a problem.
A guinea pig will remember where they were startled. They will approach that place very cautiously and slowly, until they are sure than there is nothing dangerous there.
I think the problem may be that the ramp is too slippery for him to do that. They have to take those plastic ones at a run. But he can't do that if he wants to use a cautious approach.
well goo news.. I put some carpet on there and put his food up there and he now returns up the ladder! its funny though, He seems to run around a bit, like to physch himself up to run on and then off he goes.. Atleast he goes up there now
