Dental Why? I Can't Understand.

Thank you. If the mucous is clear, then it would suggest the gut is trying to rebalance and settle still. If the mucous isn't clear, and looks bloody it would suggest the GI tract is irritated.

Yeah, the mucous is clear.

Yesterday I bought some pediatric lactobacillus and made a conversion, so I gave him 1 ml. I hand fed him with pellets only and vitamin C.

Oh I see, it's a probiotic, I hope that will help.

I'm glad it's clear, on a general note it is normally where the stomach is trying to balance and settle itself. However if it becomes red tinged, and continues to be for 72 hours then you should seek veterinary attention.

For now things seem to be moving the right way, just remember no veg for at least the next few days.

There's no blood or any weird color, the only thing I see it's that the mucous it's kinda translucent opaque (white).

I know :) I was saying in the event it does, however things seem to moving in the right direction.
Has the gas settled as well?

Are you syringe feeding him plenty of water too? or is he drinking at a normal rate?

Of course. Last night he drank some by his own too and surprised me.

I've been doing the massages and I just felt the gas moving, but I don't know if that's OK.

As long as he is passing poo, that's good, and just keep up the gentle massages to keep any possible build up of gas. You are doing great!

Phew, OK, I'm glad he's doing fine for now. I'll keep the hard work and go to the vet too.

One other thing, what about the ears? I mean, yesterday I saw him with his ears down. I think that's not normal. But today are like in the middle.

Ok - so far so good! Is he getting his fibre supplement the vet gave you and a good supply of hay?

I don't know how to give him the hay. Should I smash it with water or something? For now he's eating regular pellets :(

I didn't realise the ears did anything tbh, so if they do I would be interested in an answer to this myself.

Hay he should just eat himself really, I think some people have blended it with mush before. But he needs it for his teeth really.

Keep giving him the fibre supplement - if hes not eating hay its vital to get fibre into him to make his gut work properly. Just leave sone hay in his cage as well - once he feels better he will start eating it. Try giving him an empty toilet roll tube in case he wants rough fibre.

Ears a probably an indication he is feeling a bit sorry for himself! Poor boy. Maybe he is feeling a little better today :)

Ahhh right, so the antibiotic and plant extract were just given to him once at the vets! Thats not good. He needs fibre in his system. Do you have some cardboard tubes to offer him? You need some fibre supplement and gut stimulant from the vet to give him regularly.

OK I'll give him some cardboard.

When Frank was poorly he didn't eat much hay, but as he got better it increased. But I had fibre stuff, so cardboard or newspaper would be a good shout as previously mentioned.

Fingers crossed he likes the cardboard.

He just bit a little and left. Looks kinda tired.

We (me and my sis) gave him 3 ml of pellets and 1 ml of water. I don't know if that good/enough for now. We'll give him more food in 3 - 4 hours.

Try and make the food 1-2 hours x

He may be, let him have a little sleep and see if he goes back to it. :)

I definitely think its a good idea to try and get the right medications from the vet. Can you ring them and ask about it?

Maybe I can. The bad thing is that I don't really know which vet should I go.

Here are some photos of my piggy, how do you see him?

What I noticed now is that his poop is kinda orange and the mucous strings are still there.

That sounds quite normal to me with a recovering gut. The mucous can last for a few weeks as their little bellies take a while to recover.

He's gorgeous, he doesn't look worse for wear at all!

I would try the second vet, I felt the first was appalling :(

Yes, I will. I'll try to see if he gets better with the lactobacillus. If he's not OK tonight, then I'll go to the vet tomorrow. Or am I doing bad with this choice?

He's curious but looks tired. We have been touching him all day long and he's not used to that.
