Why guinea pigs are perfect!:luv:

-They don't bite like birds
-They don't kick and scratch like rabbits
-When they make lots of noise, its so cute! Popcorn! :))
-They don't smell, and if they do, just a little bit, it is a pleasant guinea piggy sort of smell, at least for me
-Their noses are so cute!
-Their lips are so adorable :D
-They are nice to cuddle, but also fun to play with!
-They all have such different personalities
-They are NOT boring
-They are so calming!

-I could watch them all day!

What about you? :tu:

Guinea pigs are the most gentle pets to own, unless you're counting fish who don't do much unlike pigs. I've always been a dog person but guinea pigs have a special section of my heart. I'd hope you love guinea pigs, or else you wouldn't be on a guinea pig forum or even be owning one, haha. It's a shame these animals are so mass produced I can go to a restaurant and have a meal for the same price it costs to buy one of these creatures at a chain pet store. Living things shouldn't be for profit and guinea pigs aren't the disposable animals many people see them as.

Well, fish can be quite intelligent and fascinating but your daily fish just swims around a tank that collects algae and makes you regret all life choices as you go to clean it and drain it. Been there done that. :mal:

Haha yeah! Well I bet they're more fun to watch then water snails, double dosage of life regrets! :mal::mal:

I went through a phase as a child where I really wanted those, haha. I don't see how anyone can call a guinea pig boring after watching those things!

I agree. But for some weird reason I still get oddly excited when I find the snail eggs at the bottom of the tank! Yes I am strange, you can laugh ...
P.S. I have some now

They do bite and scratch! Archie is like a snapping turtle, and loves digging his claws in. And of course he is a stinky beast. He bites far more than my cockatiel.
However the rest is true :luv:

I forgot to add that I love how you don't have to "be the boss" like you do with dogs and horses! When I was learning to ride, they kept telling me that horses want a leader, not a lover, but you just want to hug them and look after them without worrying about them "testing you" to see if you're the heard leader.

They do bite and scratch

Yes but not deliberately!

Has anyone had a finger mistaken for a carrot? hehehe

Oh he does deliberately. He has his biting for annoyance, for needing a wee, for food. And then he has his I am biting you because its fun bite. His fave target is daddy, he goes for his neck. I have a video on his phone of it, he pulls such a wicked face. Dont be fooled, guinea pigs are wicked wicked critters.

I agree with your list! Except for the scratching- I have actual scars from Hadley's little baby nails on the insides of my arm from all the times she would try to run when I was holding her! But other than that, I agree with your list! In addition: tons of colors, coat types, patterns, etc. It makes me wish I could collect them all! Sweet, docile disposition. Lots of personality and every one is different. I love watching the interaction between pigs. Sitting with a lap pig is so relaxing. You don't need to walk them in the dead of winter.

The cons... I have spent a fortune in paper bedding (I considered switching to fleece, but Sundae was scared of the fleece!) And two of the pigs I've owned (Frenzy in the past and Hadley in the present) have made it their mission to chew up my baseboards whenever my back is turned. But they are very mild cons for all the pros!

I agree with most of your list but I too have a biter. Spike (avatar pig) bites when he gets a chance, sometimes just a nip but he has drawn blood a few times, we are very careful to hold him so fingers are not accessible to teeth. I still adore him though he is a feisty little character.

I love mine because they are just so loving (well Heisenberg is anyway) I love how you connect with them and how they kind of pick you not the other way around, I know it sounds bad but I have a special kind of bond with my Heisenberg that I don't have with the others. Don't get me wrong I love all my pigs so much but Heisenberg acts different with me than the others. And I love that

Thats not bad! I bet that everyone here has a personal favorite! I love Ida, but after having had a long line of skittish guinea pigs since I was eight, Sparkles is an absolute blessing and he is without a doubt my favorite.
Haha when I was little, sometimes it was "MUM, MUM! GUESS WHAT, TESS LET ME PAT HER! SHE REALLY DID!" :D

I to have a biter (onion the white er piggie in my avatar) she tends to bite when she wants putting down, she will bite the cuffs on my coat at pull really hard. I wouldn't have it any other way tho it's part of her character. Apart from that I agree with the original post, I wouldn't be without my pigs. :luv:

Oh well, so guinea pigs bite! :soz: Thats a new one for me ;) However, I didn't start the list so that everyone could agree or disagree with everything I said, I started it so that we could all share why we love guinea pigs ;)

I'm watching a TV show right now about the worlds most expensive food, and "snail caviar" is a thing now. There's a lady who makes it at home and sells in jars for £1400 per kilo of eggs.

Amazing what people will pay for!

I was all set to write that guinea pigs don't bite in my book! Now what do I tell the people? :))
