Why is my guinea pig chirping

It’s nothing to worry about. Nobody actually knows really why some piggies chirp. Some people never hear it and the circumstances surrounding each episode of chirping don’t lend themselves to accurate interpretation. Not every piggy will chirp, so you are really quite lucky to hear it!

It’s really strange and I don’t know what it means.
Does anyone know?
Please say if you know because I am worried!

Hi!

Nobody knows what chirping really means, and so far I haven't seen an explanation that really covers it.
You can find more about chirping, what we know and what factors could be in play in this guide here: Chirping

(Note to self: do NOT click the link because all the piggies are sleeping very peacefully, even mad chirpy wheeky exhausting Tallulah-oolah-woolah! :) )

Don't worry, they usually just squeak randomly. Sometimes they'll do it if they're hungry, or happy, or scared... you get the idea :D

Chirping is diffent to Al the different wheels pigs make, its not very common, I've never heard it in 7 or 8 years of having guine apig, or when seeing them in pet shops

I agree with skypipdotbernie’s comment above. Chirping is a totally different kind of sound to the normal wheeking you are referring to. Chirping sounds exactly like a bird. It’s quite a rare sound and very few people will actually hear their piggies do it.

Oh I know what you're talking about. Usually my piggie does it when I put him away after holding him or giving him a treat. Nothing to be worried about though 😁
