I had to buy another water bottle recently because their other one was plastic and It was starting to smell so I got them a glass one this time but now every time I go up to the cage while Patchy is out eating she immediately stops eating goes up to the bottle which i'm usually standing next to and starts drinking (and watching me) for as long as I am standing their talking to her and then stops as soon as I am gone and goes about doing whatever she was doing before. She uses the bottle occasionally during the day but mostly when I've come over for a chat. She never used to do this with the plastic bottle and they both never really used it much (I've never seen Coco use the new bottle yet). Why does she do this? She's a weird little one, I often hear her wheeking excitedly while staring at the wall.

How bizarre! I wouldn't have a clue why, interesting though

She obviously likes her new bottle...

:)) :)) What a little cutie! They have some funny ways

Maybe - and this is just an idea - you gave her a treat the first time she used the new water bottle (maybe just by coincidence), and she thinks she will get another treat if she drinks out the bottle, so she goes straight to it when you come over? I should have been a psychiatrist. lol.

Lol she did the same thing while dad was talking to her this morning and stopped when he walked away. She's such a little darling and becoming a right little social butterfly, today the lady from the real estate was here and the plumber and Patchy has her head half out her hidey checking out the strangers and didn't even run away when the real estate lady came up to the cage to talk to her and she even let me pat her in the cage for the first time this morning while cleaning their cage.

It's funny, my Ganon does something similar. He doesn't like to be taken out of the cage for cage cleaning time, and he knows when I'm getting ready to move him. So he'll stay just inside his little cave, but have his head poking out and drinking from the bottle right next to it.

I like to think it's his way of acting nonchalant watching for me to leave. That, or he's telling me "Don't pick me up, Ma, I'm busy drinking!"

Goofballs, the lot of 'them.
