Why is she doing this so constantly?

I have 2 guinea pigs, Rosie and Mia. Latley, Mia has been mounting Rosie alot. When I got them, they didnt display this behaviour at all. In fact about a month past without it being a concern. But about 2 weeks before I moved them into the C&C cage, Mia started mounting Rosie alot as well. I got a video of it last night in their C&C. She did this to Rosie about 10 more times in a time span of 10-15 minutes.

They are now moved into the C&C and ever since it has been almost non-stop. Also, when Mia mounts, they both make the rumbling noise very loud. I moved them into the C&C about a day ago. Rosie now hides whenever Mia starts coming toward her and it just breaks my heart to see them like this. What can I do? I dont have the room anymore to seperate them because the C&C takes up alot of space. Please help me!
 
Hi how old are they ? Are you sure Mia is a girl - post piccies if you can of there genitals and i can check for you just in case she is actually a he, lol - you may end up with minipigs - If you are housing them with other piggies then what are there sexes ? if there all girls then I'm sure mia is a boy :smitten:
 
Mia is simply reminding Rosie who's the boss. Obviously Mia is the leader of the two... And she's probably also in heat.
 
yeah i'd agree, mia's just showing whos boss, hopefully she'll stop and if it's cos one/both are in season, it should stop soon. :)
 
ok thanks everyone! I am sure they are both females iloveanimals. Thanks for offering to check though, I appreciate it. I am just so relieved that it isnt something more serious. ;)
 
ahh its ok - thats all good news - good job they are females if not then youd end up with newborn piggies like i have just got - 6 newborns, lol or even more !

How often would a female come into heat normally, and what other symptoms would you notice?
 
They are just sorting out their dominance positions in the new cage, seperating will not help, they need to get through it :)
 
My two girlies went through a phase of this when they were around 10 wheeks, Meg was persistantly mounting Loulou and the grumbling noises and kerfuffling was worrying for a little while. Not to mention the paranoia that they were sexed wrongly! I did a fair bit of looking at Megs bits, and double checking ;D

They have pretty much packed it in now, at five months, except for the odd occasion when PMT drives them to be a bit fruity.
