Why does my guinea pig always become unwell a few days before we travel overseas?!?!? :hb::hb:

Arrgghhh...we are supposed to go to the Philippines for 2 weeks from Sunday (I haven't been able to go home since Jan 2016) for a family visit coz it'll be my mum's 60th. But my Prince now seem to have dental issues. He's been gradually losing weight for the past 3 days and now he's just 1145g from 1215g 4 days ago. :(

Looks like we'd end up losing a flight ticket and hotel fees if my hubby won't be able to join me because of it. The boarding place (another fee) won't be able to take care of Prince and also they won't be able to take him to Simon. :soz::(

Can Debbie at TEAS board him? She does a wonderful job with dental piggies and she is near Simon in Northampton?

Oh no! My piggies made me miss a holiday too, as we had nowhere to board them, and my other 11 pets too... 🙈🙉🙊

We are talking to Debbie at the moment. We really owe her A LOT because this happened quite a few times with our past piggies as well! Always at the last minute (well last couple of days)before we leave!

Who says guinea pigs are flipping easy pets?!?!?! :hb::hb:

Also an option might be boarding at your vets. My vets (Ashleigh Vets in Chorlton, Manchester, so not a million miles away - and exotics specialists) is really good if your piggy needs extra TLC, medication etc. They basically board in the 'hospital' and food, drink, medicine and behaviour is logged and you get a report on it.

Hope you can find a good holiday home for the piggies.
It would be such a shame if you couldn’t get to your mum’s birthday.

At the moment, he's only registered with Cat & Rabbit in Northampton. He has been seen by Simon in the past and since it's his teeth are the main issue at the moment, we need him seen there.

Debbie just replied to my hubby and she said she said she can accommodate him for 2 weeks! She's AMAZING! :yahoo::yahoo:

My sows, Cookie & Sierra will be boarding in Manchester from tomorrow, where they all are booked. Looks like Prince will be accommodated by Debbie at TEAS and will be taken to Simon, hopefully.

That’s great news, I was going to offer to board him if Debbie couldn’t as I only live 8 miles from Duston.

All the best to prince, i know how you feel. Dot got sick a few days before my ( oops our)wedding day. Debbie saved the day there too

Our first piggies that was taken to Debbie for emergency were Deedee and Meemee. Meemee had dental problems and needed to see Simon every 2/3 weeks at a time in Jan 2016. Deedee had stones (bladder & kidney), and heart problems. A week before our holiday their situation got worse and we found out about TEAS from Cat & Rabbit. We were supposed to go to the Philippines at that time too.

Then at around Sept 2016, Debbie had to take them in as an emergency again because Deedee had to be flushed 2 weeks before our holiday again. Deedee passed away the following year (Feb 2017) and Meemee followed next (June 2017).

April this year, Bunny had to stay with Debbie, again as an emergency, because we found out that she had bladder stones and was bleeding. Simon needed to flush it. Bunny was bleeding the whole 2 weeks she was with Debbie and she really gave her a big fright. We had to put Bunny to sleep in May because of her problems. She was getting worse and it was the hardest decision we made ever.

The thing is, we always book our holidays months before. We booked our current holiday in January this year! So everytime the piggies get sick, it was always sudden.

A friend of mine, Karen Manners, runs Hop, Skip and Bunk.

Just let me know if, and when, you need any boarding for Dot and Burnie.
