As we are all aware we nearly lost our beloved forum recently but thanks to a dedicated team behind the scenes who worked wonders we now have the forum back in all its glory :a19:

A recent thread has really focussed our minds on the importance of the forum and we thought we would write a few words in praise of its moderators, admin and members. A new member had posted about the unfortunate situation they had found themselves in, in having to rehome their beloved piggy. It was by pure chance that they found the forum. They were unaware that rescues existed so in parallel they had posted about rehoming their guinea pig on free ads online.

Forum members immediately posted with suggestions and advice on what the owner could do next in their quest to find a new home for their piggy. Needless to say a solution was found and this piggy now has a new home and the original owner will be kept updated with piggys progress :(|)

So why is this forum so important ?/

It educates members in a friendly and non preaching manner. It has wealth of experience and knowledge of many things – not just piggy related either. The forum and its members always seem to be able to point other members in the right direction without being the slightest bit intimidating or negative but by discussing various avenues to explore. We are a community in the true sense of the word, we eagerly share our experiences knowing that only constructive comments are made. All these things combined ensure that guinea pigs welfare is improved everywhere so we'd like to end this by saying a big thank you to everyone on the forum as you make it what it is x>>x>>

If anyone would like to add anything please feel free.

Lisa & Ali..xx

The forum is also very welcoming towards new members. Often within a tight-knit community it can be hard for newcomers to be welcomed in and for them to feel as though they are a part of the community; with this forum newcomers are treated as part of the community from the beginning :)

Totally agree with you .... :))

Yes I agree I'm normally wary of forums or anything with ppl I don't know I have been on sum sort of Facebook game were strangers can talk to you and got nothing but verbal abuse so never go on any games, and I feel totally as easy talking too people on here everybody is just lovely like minded animal lovers with lots of advise x

It's lovely to see what our members think of the forum. At the end of the day, we all have a common interest, our delightful furry bundles of fun! We do what we can to provide a friendly forum so that our new members feel welcome from their very first post. In turn (and time) the new members become seasoned members and they impart their knowledge to the next newcomers and so on. We wouldn't be here without our members, so the staff of The Guinea Pig Forum also thank you all for being our wonderful members (and our friends) ;)

Couldn't agree more, very eloquently put! :)

I really feel the forum has a great team and some great members and that it's in a good place right now. A big thanks to the moderators and techno-know-how people who are really changing this forum for the better.

I can honestly say I am proud to be part of such a wonderful community. My family are probably getting sick of, "I saw this on the guinea pig forum . . . " "I read about in on the piggy forum . . . " "come and see this thing on the guinea pig forum . . . " etc!

my piggies lives have been so improved with this forum. When i had other guinea pigs had them on their own in hutches outside and due to ignorance didn't get the diet mine get now. Have 6 in our home now in the spare room, started with two in a 70 cm cage.It also means I can talk piggie with people that get it and not bore the backside off my family. Not only has this forum improved my piggies lives but also the life of my friends guinea pigs as she now comes to me for advise and has moved her boars from a 70cm cage to a 100cm cage (know its not perfect but better than it was) Her daughter even comes on this forum and is only 10 so it is educating future piggy owners. My kids (12 and 14) say they will have piggies in a similar set up that ours are and even give friends advice on their piggies. So pleased it survived the hackers

I also feel that the forum has a great team and I was upset when the hackers appeared 8... I didn't know what to do with myself! As a first time piggy owner the forum has helped me get over Kasper having an abscess operation as well answering some of my silly questions. My favourite thing of all is how the members all pulled in to help me find Uno a home so another big thank you to Lisa and Ali plus everyone else who sent me to them x)

I have always felt very welcome in this forum and is like a community and better then others i have been in, that are full of hate, fighting and people judging others. I Love this forum. I learnt so much when i had my First guinea pig, and is important to educate others in the correct care of guinea pigs.

I love how everyone helps each other out, everyone is so nice and friendly and is lovely to have somewhere that whatever you write, people wont judge you and will understand you. As all here for the same thing. Our love of Guinea pigs
