Sue, please take her to the vet, to get her checked out.
I haven't taken her, she's still fine in herself. The other rodent was scratching a bit though a week or so ago so I gave them some Xeno just to be on the safe side to rule out mites again.
I presume Pretty Bald's hair will grow back again soon, I hope it's before the cold weather sets in.
When Simon spayed all the female guinea pigs for Rabbit and Guinea Pig Welfare, he did find that pretty much all slightly older piggies had cystic ovaries. This was only discovered at spay as the guinea pig was showing no signs of illness or hormonal issues. This just highlights that most female guinea pigs will have cystic ovaries, but won't need any treatment. However, your guinea pig does need a check up, with a guinea pig savvy vet, just to find out why the hair loss is occurring and whether any treatment is required. I know you don't like to waste money on vets who have no knowledge and sadly there are plenty of those around, but hopefully we could point you in the direction of a good one.@ Natwee88 - Reporting me to the RSPCA would be wasting the RSPCA'S money, time and resources.
@ Debbie - Pretty Bald's baldness isn't worrying me that much, apart from some hairloss she seems fine. If in 3 or 4 weeks her hair hasn't regrown or she's lost more and it's gotten very cold in the rodent room then I'll be concerned about her getting cold but no, she seems fine. If she has got cysts then they're there all the time, 2 months ago she had a full thick coat, anyone looking at her in person 2 months ago would say she looks fine, the only difference now is that symptoms are showing. Anyway, Nana Niki says that Simon the vet in Northampton has said that when he spays girl rodents that most of them have ovarian cysts, that being the case then it's obviously a common condition that they can live with and goes unnoticed. Pretty Bald has always been the shape she is and has always had spells of baldness since I got her. Anyway I'll try ringing you tonight though in between my fave programmes Wildlife SOS & Autumnwatch.
@ Tiamolly123 - Sorry to hear about Molly.
I am so sorry about your little Hamsters5 of my hamsters had Pyometra I had to have them all put to sleep.
I'd give up people she ain't listening.
Why on earth did she ask for advice when she isn't listening to it.
Will speak to him tomorrow. Didn't want to take up any more of his time yesterday, as I had sneaked an extra piggy in and he was running late. Will let you know what he has to say xxDid you bring up the conversation of my balding rodent to Simon Maddock yesterday Debbie? If so, what did he say?
