I have started a new hopefully helpful guides collection called Wiebke's Rules at the top of the Health and Illness Support Corner. Here is the link: Wiebke's Rules: Precise How-to Guidance and Quick Panic Breaker Health Checks

This new collection is specifically there for the 'little' but often crucial issues that seem obvious to those who have the practice and are therefore not explained in detail but that are the opposite for those who lack that experience. They contain guidance on those issues that many people would not dare to ask about because they are supposed to be intuitively obvious when in fact they are most decidedly not.
It is also there for those of us who really need or want to know the operational details and not just the principle or for those who tend to jump immediately to the worst case scenario in order to help them save unnecessary anxiety and vet cost without endangering the safety and health of their piggies.

Wiebke's Rules contains very precise step by step how-to guides for processes that are often mentioned but usually only rather vaguely or that help to explain areas where going by numbers only can be problematic and can lead to unnecessary panic attacks because the guiding numbers lack the individual perspective and only cover the average but not necessarily all piggies.
Being able to put things into the proper perspective can really help to keep a grip when the difference between a stable weight and 10g weight loss is emotionally an abyss between life and death instead of the difference between a full and an empty bladder.

The second chapter contains some easy to perform home checks that allow you or - if you suffer from anxiety - ideally a support person to help you judge whether there could be a problem or not, and if there is, how soon it needs to be addressed. These are meant as panic breakers and are there to help you put a potential problem into the appropriate perspective as quickly as possible before you can zoom in on the worst case scenarios.

I am going to add more guides over time that help with those 'little' issues which so often cause confusion or anxiety. It is my aim to formulate my guides as clearly and as step-by-step as possible. I am also deliberately building in an 'anxiety cushion' by erring on the cautious side so the guides are safe to follow to the letter but they also have a safety margin if you miss a step or cannot perform them quite in the way that is written without panicking.

I sincerely hope that Wiebke's Rules guides and tips are going to fill in common information gaps that cause lots of unnecessary stress, anxiety and that add to a lack of self-confidence.

The new category runs in addition to my Wiebke's Guides to the Body, which give an overview over various body tracts (what is normal and what not) and to Wiebke's Home Care guides which focus more on the home care and human side of things or on specific health issues.
