Are there any wierd things you say to your piggies every day that has just become part of your daily routine but would be really strange if someone caught you saying it?

I got thinking because one of the neighbours was walking past as I flung open the door saying "hello squeaky bums I'm home!" And he gave me quite a strange look.

Every morning I ask them if they slept well and pretend they're interested in our conversation even though I know they just want their morning pellets.
Every evening I say goodnight and tell them to tell my fiance I love him for me (he works nights and gets home after I've gone to bed).
And with my snake I stand in front of the viv every morning and say "how do I look" this started because we have no full length mirrors and the glass on his enclosure is quite reflective but now it's a nice little part of our routine and a chance to check up on him.

So what are the weirdest parts of your piggie routine?

Every morning I say good morning to my girls, give Meg her morning Metacam with varying degrees of success. Some mornings she is waiting at the mesh of the hutch for it other days I have to go hunting for her. Then the three of them get put in the run and I say to them "what's this" in my 'piggy voice' and shake the pellet tin and then say "breakfast time" and then they start their little popcorns (they are too old for exuberant young pup style popcorns) and then scatter feed the pellets while saying "one for Betsy, one for Meg and one for Patsy" and the girls go running around the run trying to decide which pellet to eat first!

Nice to know I'm not the only one with a 'piggie voice' 🤣

I come in say good morning and shout who wants breakfassssttt! In my piggie voice!
when it’s time to spot clean I go, time to clean up these poops and I show them the hoover so they know it’s coming! And they always get a gooood night see you in the morning!

I always give them a cheery "hello piggies" In my best piggy voice and a "night night boys" last thing and sometimes a hello pigwigs/pigpogs and copy them when they wheekwheek or chutchutchut and say whatwhatwhatwhat? in response (can't believe I'm typing this🤣😂

We all understand mad moments and things we do and say to our piggies. Non piggy people think it's strange and that we are all slightly barmy and odd! Can't think why! 🤔 :))

I mean, i used to groan "for &^%^s sake Comet" on a regular basis in a really exasperated tone...but I don't think that's quite what you meant, lol. But I would hold one sided conversations with them frequently. "No, Comet, I don't have food." "No, Comet, it's not dinnertime."

...wait, I'm seeing a pattern here...

Just as well my neighbours know I've got guinea pigs as we have the windows open quite often and I know they have heard me say things like 'come on own up who did all that poo' (first thing in the morning). A lot of other daily comments go along the lines of 'no stop, he doesn't want humping today' or 'time to change your beds, whose weed the bed again'.

I have arguments most days with Beatrice.....no it's not dinner time you've just had lettuce... no we're not doing pellets today.....no I'm not feeding you I've only got up to go to the toilet.....guess who usually wins the argument......20210126_150339.jpg

I don't just say things. I have guinea pig songs based on the individuals and the group. Some are mashed up lyrics to songs that already exist and some are songs we have made up.
I think the neighbours would do a double take if they heard them.

omg I can related SO MUCH to everyone’s comments.
First thing in the morning I say, ‘good morning pigs..who wants BREAAAKKKFASSSTTTTTT!’ And they all shoot up, popcorn, stand at the bars or on their hind feet squeaking all excited for BRREEEAAAKKFAASSSSSSSTT!

During the day there is various strange things I say to them such as ‘stop humping her!’.. ‘leave her alone’... ‘ohh that was mean’... ‘what are you doing?’...’awwww cute poop hanging out your bum’ or ‘wee wee see see, who wants a treat?’

And then in the evening it’s..
‘Who wants DIINNNNNERRR!’ ‘Dinner time, WEE WEE SEE SEE. WEEE WEEEEE SEEEE SEEEE’ which translates to salad time.
And then after salad, I get up from the sofa whilst saying to my (poor) partner ‘SO who do you think wants their.. BISCUITS?.. should I give them their biscuits? Is it time for BISCUITSS’
And then of course they get their biscuits (pellets).

we crazy

I just say, "Hey, girls!" every time I walk past. I have to go past them every time I leave my office/family room, so sometimes I say this a lot.

One of my kids pointed out to me that when I hold the pigs on the couch I tend to talk to them in my soothing 'for pets' voice and say, "Who's a good pig? YOU'RE a good pig," and then if there's no conversation going on I will sometimes address my daughter and say, "You know who's a good pig? Hadley/Leela is!" in a normal, conversational tone. I'm nuts, apparently!

At various points in the day me and my OH have a conversation that goes a bit like this...
Person 1: you know who's good?
Person 2: spud
Person 1: yes and...
Person 2: Gundham
Person 1: yes and...
Person 2: spirit
Person 1: yes and you, you are also good.
This is how we say I love you.
