I have 2 guinea pigs about 9 weeks old both female. One of them makes strange noises and wiggles it's bum at the other and they chase each other around.

Can any one tell me why they do this and what it means?

Thanks

LOL.....my boys did that....and then they had babies! I thought one was just showing his manliness...alpha male kind of thing. Now I know he was strutting his stuff for her. Appparently she was impressed.

It's called rumblestrutting & is a normal display of dominance, your piggies are just working out the pecking order between themselves :)

Mine have all done it :) best to check the sexes just to be sure if you can find some pics of piggy bits? but they are young and will be sorting out who's boss O0 x

I agree about checking the sexes in the beginning I think I checked my piggies a million times to make sure they were all ladies lol But as already said if they are girls they are just sorting out who is in charge ;)

my 2 are 8 and 10 weeks and they do this, the older one nudges the younger one's bum when she is eating and the younger one gives her a nudge back and then the older one chases her around the cage ;D at the moment the younger one is running round the cage like a loon :smitten: whilst the older one is sitting there watching thinking what you doing you nut ;D

MY 2 GIRLS DO IT , NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AS LONG AS YOU HAVE CHECKED THEY ARE THE SAME SEX.

two of my 4 year olds do it ;D

Mine do it when they're in heat. I now have Sephy and Bee chasing the other two around the cage trying to do naughtiness!
