Well after much thought about wiggys welfare and him being alone I decided to take him along to burton RSPCA to see if they had any babies in. They have around 6 babies between 5-7 weeks of age.
Wiggy met all of them but there's was only one that he took a shine to. The others seemed to mount him and he was getting peed off, his mane was puffed up and at one of them he chattered his teeth. You could see he wasn't sure about the others. Then we put this little 5 week Abyssinia (sp) in with him and things seemed calm, the little aby boy mounted him slightly but wiggy wasn't too fussed. After 15 mins of being together they sat around and wiggy washed himself. He then lifted his head over the babies head. And the baby followed wiggy around the cage.

After that we decided he was the best one for wiggy and so tomorrow I go and collect him at 1.30pm.

So wiggy will have a new friend called Sid.

Great big smile here... Well done Wiggy & Sid... x

Well done! it is well worth letting piggies choose who they get on with!

Yes I can't wait to bring him home.
I have a small cage that I use for when I clean out the rats as it's somewhere to put them safely. Anyway I was wondering could I put the baby in that cage 60cm long for a week next to wiggys cage? Or should I put the 5 week baby straight in with wiggy with a small hut and tube so he has somewhere to escape if wiggy gets too full on.

I would start with intros on neutral ground straight away. By rehoming from a good rescue, you do not need to worry about quarantine. At that age, youngsters are desperate for companionship; please avoid leaving Sid on his own.

Please clean out the hutch they are going to live in thoroughly, including walls and any furniture, so it as neutral as possible and Wiggle won't feel as territorial. having something to escape into for the youngster (like a hay stuffed cardboard box with two small holes) is a good idea; make sure that everything has two exits, so the youngster cannot be trapped.

You may find these two threads helpful for the intros:

http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?59233-Boar-Dating-Service-Wales (this one deals with quite a few intros of youngsters and also contains some videos)

The most critical time comes when both boars are waking up after their first nap together and then again at the end of the dominance phase (which can last up to two weeks). With them clicking so well, you are very much off to head start!

Thank you wiebke I will do as you say.
Thanks for the links.

Aww, so pleased that Wiggy got to choose a friend himself - always the best way, Wally Whiskers chose Rocket ( when he was a teeny tiny 6 week old) and they adored each other. Sid sounds lovely, pics as soon as possible please! :)
