Archie is turning into a wild guinea pig. As soon as the back door is open, he races outside. He has to be in his run, but he tries to get me to get him out all the time so he can run wild. I bring him out around 5pm cause it gets so cold and damp, but nope, he forces me to watch him as he furiously munches the lawn, i think he would stay out till its dark, but no way am i staying out that long. He gets till 6pm, i just cant take any longer it gets too cold for me. He chases me around too.
If its raining, he still rushes out, not bothered in the least. He gets so insane if hes not allowed outside now, like a dog thats going crazy for its walk.
I think he would roam the land if he had his own way lol!

Bless him, he is a very adventurous piggy. My boys are missing going out but the ground is so damp and cold now I am afraid of them getting ill.

Hi @Wigwig

It sounds as if Archie is a handful at times and its great that he can get out in the good weather but unfortunately at this time of year its becoming a bit cold and damp early in the day and later in the afternoon once the sun has gone down. Up here in Scotland we are lucky to get more than about 6 weeks of good grass time for our piggies as it is definitely far too cold for them. The problem with grass is that its characteristics change dramatically with the temperature. Also damp grass due to all our piggies short legs means that they can easily catch a chill from their bellies being in contact with the damp grass. Our normal rule of thumb is if we can kneel on the grass with trousers on and our knees are dry and the air temperature is ok then our piggies can go outside. Something else that you need to consider at this time of year is that going from a warm house to outside is a considerable change in temperature, something that piggies don't tolerate well.

It looks like Archie will need to have run time in the house only over the winter months until the warmer weather kicks back in or he may well catch a wee cold! We would love to see some pigtures of Archie basking in the sun!

Lisa & Ali..x

Dont worry, i wont let him get sick, i always take great care to make sure he isnt not getting too cold or wet, the silly wiggle doesnt know his own limits sometimes :P He is a handful though lol.
