Browsing around Wilko's yesterday before going into work and bought a bag of their Meadow and Timothy hay to try the piggies on and was surprised at the decent quality :))
They are a hit with the piggies and it cost the grand total of £4.24 for two bags so am thinking of buying bulk loads having 18 little divas (i.e. fill the car :x)
Never thought of trying these previously and have struggled to find good hay for ages now so hopefully, may have solved the issue...?/
Would recommend these to people - have tried Zooplus, Hay for Pets, Dust Free Co. etc. :{
They have some nice stuff in there so can see me becoming a regular customer from now on...just happens to be two minutes from work as well :x

I like being in wilkos for more than just piggie things, it's such a useful shop,
However i did see them selling a dried treat for piggies and rabbits but i read ingredients and it had potato in it :/

Mine love wilkos meadow hay, turn their nose up at the timothy though and at 2.20 per 1.5kg its not exactly expensive either, my current hay is 99p per kg from morrisons as right now its a good quality.

Wilkos sell mr johnsons pellets for pigs and my pigs love that!

They do sell some seed bars with honey and stuff in, and stupid chocolate drops for small animals but at least they dont claim to be pet experts ...

I get a bag of timothy hay for the gang from there, as they have meadow hay its nice to give them a treat once a week

Just looked on Wilkinson's website and they meadow hay has come down to £1.75 so gunna go to later and get loads :)

The Timothy hay is a lovely course one, Adsa had one last week by Bob Martin which was not too bad - the piggies are a bit confused as to why they're having all these different hays atm, diving into the hay buckets, a good sniff around and nom nom nom ;)
Can't believe I've spent £££'s previously on loads of different stuff and good ones were under my nose all this time :(|)

i've never had the hay from there but i was browsing around the walsall branch today and they quite a lot of stuff in there. i picked up a new pair of claw trimmers for £2.99 - mine are getting past it and these look good quality. will be trying them out tomorrow hopefully

Bought a plastic planter from there yesterday 60cm long and have popped it into the herds pen - they have a 'hay trough' now opposed to a basket 15"x15" that sometimes caused a rumble ot two as they couldn't all fit in ;)
Just tilted it onto it's side and placed a spare wooden bendy hidey upside down underneath to prevent it moving and they've been having a lot of fun after investigation and approval rolleyes
Six chunky bottoms all wiggling in a line at me this morning...nom nom...:x :(|)
Grand total of a little under £4 :))

I got a couple of bags of wilkos hay on Saturday for two new piggies arriving next weekend ( excited much...!? :)) so how long do you think they'll last me? They will be bedded on fleece but will probably have some hay in the cage as well as the trough thing. Just trying to get an idea how long things will last because beibg a new piggy owner I have NO idea lol! The nuggets came today and should last about 6 weeks I think, taking into account what the packet says to feed them.
Thanks :)

A 1.8kg lasts my three about two weeks, sometimes less so I guess your 1kg bags will last about 3 weeks maybe for 2 bags. Piggies need a constant supply of hay, their cage should never be without some :)

Oh don't worry they will get plenty, can see them getting spoiled before I've even got them lol! The wilko bags are 1.5kgs each so I have 3kgs between two pigs, mostly it's for eating but I will likely to putting some into a bedding/foraging area :)

I love wilkos, I got a litter tray that clips in the cage for £2.99, their chew tubes are £1.50 (used to pay double) so got them, I bought a a metal dangling food ball that you put chunks of veg in, £2, couple of spare food bowls too. Oh and my lot love the dandelion and green oat mix! :(|) am gonna try the hay next :)

Thanks Bekki, using your usage as a rough guide then DH has just worked out the two bags we have will probably last us 4-5 wks, will have to record it now to see how that estimate fares ;)

I went piggie shopping yesterday...now hold up...I meant food shopping and thought right I'll go to wilko's and see what the hay is like.

Sadly they had none grrrr

Good news though, I popped into the local pet shop, because I was running very low of hay and "hey presto", they had some really big bags of quality hay grown locally and was only £3. So I bought two drool

Piggies are scoffing there faces :))

I can't buy the really big bags, like 10kgs because the piggie cupboard is full of normal bedding and food!

:)) We struggle for space at times as they have storage boxes and bedding everywhere - I lost my space to our piggies a long time ago :x I have to move 20k of pellets, hay, variety of containers (all piggy stuff) etc. to get to my freezer now - OH put shelves up in there for vet bed etc. but still need more space to hang the washed pieces mallethead Even took the door off and hung a bead curtain up to create walk in space :{

Wilkinsons also do a hay ring that comes with a clip to hang it up. My three loved it, and it was quite amusing watching them all tugging at it.

I bought these two Christmas' ago and they destroyed them within minutes :))
Watch out for the string which I found after they'd pulled all the hay out :...

Ok I have 3 out of 4pigs who aren't impressed with the timothy hay?! :o fussy beggars grrr .....

ha and I thought it was just my lot that turned their noses up at the timothy hay... still at least they prefer the cheaper one
