my gunni pigs name is pae-pae he is 3& 1/2 he accedently ate d-con :{ I'm scare he might die will he?

dito, it causes internal bleeding , and must be treated as soon as possibal ,
please let us know how he gets on !

Nothing we can say or do is going to help- he needs a vet asap!

D-con is (obviously) toxic to anything that ingests it.. The amount ingested and size of the animal will affect the speed at which symptoms show. Its purpose is to cause internal bleeding and ultimately death, but this can be avoided with treatment of vitamin k promptly after ingestion- once it starts to have effects on the animal then it is extremely difficult to reverse the damage. All i can suggest you do is see a vet ASAP.. Is emergency out of hours vet an option for you? It has been nearly 24 hours since your initial post. I hope it isnt too late for your guinea pig.

hi as l understand it the efectcts can be managed with a shot of vitamin K1 but it needs to be given sooner than later

I don't think an appointment for tomorrow is soon enough, you piggy is already showing signs of illness and it is vital your piggy gets seen now!

his appointment was at 1.00 and we didn't even get to go bc he died:(:bye::bye:

I am sorry for your loss. Was he your only Guinea Pig ? Do you have any other pets ?

I'm soooooo..... sad:no::no::bye::bye::(:(:(
ill probably never get another one
i think i need to get something tho like rats or hamsters

Please do not get a rat , hamster , guinea pig or any other rodent if there is a risk of your next pet accidently eating d-con.

If I were you , I would focus your love of animals onto your dog.

I'm really sorry this has happened.
I think while the loss of your guinea pig is still so fresh for you I wouldn't rush in to getting another pet just yet. Let it all settle and then do plenty of research into the animals you are considering. Both rats and hamsters love to have out time and they need plenty of space, they love to climb and you'd be surprised at what they can get in to, or out of, so a few adjustments may be required (as they do with any pet, for all of us). It's understandable to want to fill the gap left behind by your guinea pig, but you'll probably find things easier and reassuring if you let your grief settle first and find out everything you need to know about the animals you want. x
