Will Daisy And Darcy Ever Get Along?

Unfortunately two months ago I lost one of my pigs leaving Darcy on her own. I have another pair of pigs Daisy and peppa who I intended on introducing Darcy to. After waiting a few weeks we introduced them in the bathroom with a big pile of hay and plenty of veg to dristract them. It seemed to be going well until all of a sudden Daisy attacked Darcy splitting her lip. Darcy started chirping (which I assume she does when she's startled) so we put them straight back in their cages. Darcy is still her happy self and she isn't necessarily on her own as the only thing seperating the pigs is a grid where they interact with each other. Although she seems happy I would love to have all three of the pigs together in one big cage and was wondering if there is any way Darcy and Daisy would learn to get on with each other. Unfortunately getting another guinea pig isn't an option right now or in the near future.

As gutting as it always is for us humans when things don't go to plan, but I highly doubt that the two girls will get on after that bust up.
Adding a third piggy to a happily and solidly bonded pair is the one constellation that I have found the one that works out least, especially if the addition is a piggy that can challenge and upset the existing hierarchy. Trios are in my own experience the most difficult constellation to get right - they are great if they work (I have those), but the majority simply don't.

I feel as @Wiebke said that after a fight youd be very lucky to bond these girls. As you feel she is happy being able to see the other two its best to leave them as they are just now and maybe in the future youd be able to introduce another sow to her. Getting the advice and help from a rescue centre would help you find her a friend.

Thank you both for your replies! I'm considering adopting another pig early next year depending on circumstances so hopefully Darcy will have a friend soon but for now she's happy interacting through the grids safe from grumpy Daisy

If you can get to one of our recommended good standard rescues that offer dating under expert supervision at the rescue, you avoid coming home with a piggy (whether sow or neutered boar) that is not getting on and also don't have to worry about pregnancy or health issues.

Thank you that's what I plan on doing. Darcy is very easy going and gets on with most other pigs so I don't think it should be to hard finding a friend for her
