COVID-19 Will hats come back into fashion?

My scalp can be dodgy too and I'm sure hair annoys it. Not very helpful! Have you tried the liquid scalp steroid stuff from GP? Only thing that works on me and works fast. (And just to clarify that's doctor not guinea pig 😊)

I use betnovate (the steroid stuff) when it gets horrendously bad, but it's not quite at that stage yet. I've had 3 massive bald patches over my scalp once, it wasn't pleasant. I'm not using betnovate at the minute though, but I do have a prescription for it. I generally just use Capasal which might be "just shampoo" but it's the best damn prescription I've ever had. Dries out the scalp so it's not soft and mushy and makes it easier to find and deal with/care for the lesions, it helps with the other psoriasis patches on the body too, like elbows and chest. It does not discriminate though, it dries out everything else including my hands so much so that they react badly to soap and water in general now lol.

Great stuff, but if you're not a fan of coal tar, it's definitely not for you. The same company that makes Capasal also makes Dermax, which is again a medicated shampoo only this one is coal tar free. I don't find it anywhere near as good and I don't bother with getting it anymore, but I know people who swear Dermax is the better option.

Oh yes betnovate, that was my miracle cure. Sounds like you've got a range of remedies sussed 😊

The psoriasis is why I own a hat. When I had those massive bald patches I kind of looked at myself in the mirror one day and basically said "ah &%*$ it" and ran a bare blade on the clippers over it. Dramatic, yes. Extreme, yes. Worked a charm though. Was interesting when it started growing back though because it wasn't gonna grow back evenly anyway and all I had was "oh why didn't you get someone else to do it, it's so uneven". You wouldn't mind so much but I swear the same people asked me the same question every time I saw them.

Lol oh dear, no sympathy then! Will you clipper it again or it's not so bad?

It's two months on - how's everyone doing? I normally have a chin length bob - I now have shoulder length. My fringe the end of my nose and drives me mad in my eyes. I mostly tie it back off my face with an elastic bobble thing on top of my head, it will soon be long enough to join into a pony tail. This is the kind of hair style 10 year olds had when I was little, just how I wanted it but my Mum insisted on me having a pixie cut. Thanks to the lockdown I've achieved one of my ambitions over 50 years late!
As for colour, I grew that out 6 years ago when there was so much grey colour wouldn't take any more. With so much sun and gardening the grey is now bleached blonde streaks and I quite like it.
I may never visit a hairdresser again, wonder how many years it would take to be able to sit on it?

I had to give myself a haircut. I took scissors and started cutting where I can see.
If you have seen my boy Finn's hair after I gave him a haircut, you can just imagine mine...  :td:

Let me just say, I am currently waiting for my hair to grow to cover the mistake I made while cutting my own hair.

I have been cutting MrA and Son1A’s hair for them. I watched a very helpful tutorial online with Nicky Clarke and finally decided to cut my fringe as it was so far down my face it would not stay out of my eyes. I did a passable job, but I won’t be doing anything more radical than that. I usually have a very short bob. It’s now jaw length and so out of shape that I’ve had to invest in hair grips to keep it off my face. Sadly that emphasises my dark roots, peppered with grey. Ah well.

I have fully embraced going grey. Everyone thinks I'm just a natural blond and I see no reason to mention otherwise :))

Edit: still needs shaving off though

I have trimmed the front of my hair and the wings at the side which were getting annoying.
The back is too long and is now curling happily in all directions.
My nice neat short hair just isn’t any more !

I can’t get away with hats, always make my head look huge! :)) But a fair few greys/whites that need covering now, I’ve been pondering going purple like I’ve wanted for years, would just take lots of dye and result in a mess though me thinks!:doh:Got too much hair and I think Luigi probably would be the best help?! Ignore my silly Covid pose!:))

Your hair is lovely and long, I always get told mine is too long but I prefer long hair. I've dyed my hair purple a few times.

Thanks, yeah I do too. I’m guessing I’d need a few hair dyes just not dyed it in years! Wondering whether to go for semi-permanent and hope if it looks terrible it’ll wash out! 🤷‍♀️🤞Probably perfect time to do it atm when I’m barely leaving the house! xx

I've always used permanent dyes but find they fade quite quickly on my hair. I do tend to wash my hair everyday though so that doesn't help lol xx

Yeah I do most days too, probably doesn’t help with the frizz when it’s not straightened as it’s a big curly mess normally! Gotta go into town for my meds fri/sat so might see what I can find! Just worried I’ll miss a big section doing it by myself being dozy! :)) xx

I normally use the scharzkpoft live dyes but since I bleached the ends of my hair I use la riche directions which are ready to use
You don't have it mix it up its straight from the tub and they're brilliant. The blue I used though has stained my hair lol xx

Yeah I was thinking the LIVE ones cuz the colours look nice on the adverts! But cheers, I’ll look out for those ones then :D
Suppose if it’s stained it saves you dying it! :)):doh:xx

Aaaargh! I did it! :yahoo: On the brain when I woke up and thought was best to do before I chickened out!:)) First hair dye in at least 12 years! Took two (but did get three)!
What dya think @Gem789 and @Merab's Slave?! :D:)) Promised you a crazy Covid Rapunzel!:))

And this is tame, not long out the shower and a bit of drying! :yikes: Love the colour though!:))
(Sorry terrible pics but blooming miserable here today!) Xx

(And bathroom’s looking like a bit of a blood bath! :)))

Oh and of course lovely @Bill & Ted :D
Not like me to pamper myself but quite fun dying everything (was tempted to get Rosie the shadow’s tail so we matched but :)) ) x

I love it @alpacasqueak you have such lovely hair. Mines dead straight, I've always wanted waves, in the days when perms were fashionable I had it permed a few times but it wouldn't take and dropped out after few days as the hair is so strong.

Thanks so much @piggieminder! :hug:Really not like me to play around doing girly things but actually quite chuffed with it!
I’ve always wanted mine straight, non-stop jokes about it since a kid (mainly from my nasty family who don’t know I’ve done this!) so it’s only the last five years or so I’ve embraced having loony locks!
Think we should swap for a few weeks and see how we’d do! :D x

I love it! That's a really nice colour xx

I'd love to have your hair @alpacasqueak it's funny how most people don't like their hair. Don't think you'd want mine, it's very grey now, parts of it are white although the sun has given me blond streaks. I found there is so little colour in it the dye would no longer take so decided I needed to leave it natural.

Sure it’s lovely! I’ve done the same for years and it’s much lighter in the sun. But yes don’t think I know anyone that’s content with their locks!
Think the only reason I’ve gone ahead is because these greys are driving me mad! Bit of purple I’ve wanted for donkeys years! :)) x
