Hello from Spain!
I am planning on adopting a couple of piggies, still on the planning stage . Today I was playing around with the grids, because I want them to be on the living room where we spend 90% of our free time, and came out with a couple of (I think) decent options. I do have an empty room that could be used, but it is out of the way and has little to no foot traffic, I worry they would be kind of "forgotten".
I was wondering if one of those layouts would be okay?

Are you okay with the pigs nibbling on and potentially peeing on that shelf and the things on it in the background? If not, I would consider fencing in that back area and hanging fleece as a back splash.

Maybe my herd is a little weird, but sometimes when somepig *cough* Cuddles *cough* is in heat, she chases the others around so persistently. They often have to resort to lifting their bums and peeing backwards in her face. To protect the wall behind the cage from pee splatter, I just clipped some spare pieces of fleece to the back wall.

Hello there...looks fine and the space is decent except your guinea pigs will chew on that shelf and all of the stuff on it right behind it

Oh yes! Sorry, I just put the grids to know the space I had, I am going to fence it all the way and put coroplast, the shelves are going to be protected! I do have fleece, I'm wicking it right now actually (just on the first wash at the moment).
Forgot to mention that I am going to use the lower shelf space as well; it's 1 grid on the left, and 2 on the right side.

Oh okay! Then yes, you have a great setup there, c & c cages are one of the best options and it should be fairly easy keeping up the fleece, just remember to sweep those poops (my two guinea pigs poop like 30 times a day lol) daily!:)

Thank you! I'm so nervous right now trying to do the best I can :xd: and I wasn't sure if that was enough space at all, I've seen a lot of c & c cages but the majority of them are in the "standard" long shape, getting the coroplast to behave in my set up is going to be such a nightmare

I'll make sure to post pics once I finally finish the cage, thanks again!

Can't wait to see photos xx
So happy you did research on the proper cage :)

Looks like a great space for piggies if it's blocked off from chewable things! They certainly can chew and wreck things quickly!
Great you're planning in advance :)

My piggies are in my living room, love them in there as you can spend so much more time with them and definitely feel more like they're part of the family! (Well I'm alone with my pets but mine are like my kids!)
Welcome to the forum, everyone's great on here :)

Hello and welcome to the forum! Looks like you will have a great set up for your piggies when they arrive.

Looks great! Although the book shelf may end up with the contents being chewed on and you may find poops in your documents :)) maybe if you empty those shelves it will give your piggies an extra hiding space? Also regarding the third photo, I don’t think the grids are meant to go on the bottom/floor this might be uncomfortable to walk on for them and could cause injury (unless you had put them there to show the size of the floor space, in that case that is great 👍).

Just as I thought, the coroplast was a complete nightmare.
I have to cut the fleece to size (wicked after two wash cycles, yay!), get some old towels or puppy pads, and make some pee pads.

I was also thinking of making a loft, but I have read that some piggies don't like them. Maybe I'll wait until I get them to decide, not sure.

I know the hay bag is horrible, it's my first time sewing:oops: ...

I've also covered all the electric outlets, so no wire chewing will happen, don't worry :D
