Willow has had a bad front leg or paw ( we can't figure out which one) for about a week now. She went to the vets on the second day and he pulled and pushed her joint about and could find nothing wrong. He gave her an anti inflammatory injection and said it should be better by tomorrow. But it was not!
We have an appointment for this afternoon but I fear that we will hear much of the same - "there's nothing wrong with it, have an injection" etc bla bla bla.....

CLEARLY something IS wrong with it as she is limping and trying to put as little weight on it as possible. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what could be wrong? She is well in herself and hasn't lost appetite. Just not walking on it for a week now- this is NOT right.

thankyou!

Could one of her claws have curled into her paw? We had that with Nibbles and he was limping too. Maybe she has a splinter? Not sure what else to suggest.

What bedding is she on? I'm just guessing here. Does her paw look and different? Can you get a picture?

Poor wee Willow, I dont have any advice but I hope that something shows up with the vet later on, if only we could understand what they say it would make vets visits so much easier.

No we thought that too but her claws are fine, we trimmed them just in case but made no difference :( We also considered splinters and the vet also checked and could not find one.

She is on hay and towels :) Her paw literally looks in perfect condition it is so strange we cannot understand what is wrong! She is just holding it like when a dog hurts their paw, all limp and in the air...

Has the vet checked all joints right up to the spine, as the sprain/injury can easily have happened further up the leg?

A bad sprain can last up to three weeks. Otherwise it could be a break or crack in one of her small hand/foot bones.

When we took her he checked her toes/claws (whatever you call them) and all the way up to at least her shoulder, i couldn't really tell but it seemed thorough. I am beginning to assume it is a sprain?

But when the vet was examining her he was obviouslt being quite firm and she seemed to be in no pain, unless she is really trying her upmost to not show she is in pain being a prey animal. Hmmm, well vets in under 3 hours so fingers crossed! x

With a sprain, piggies often don't show a distinctive patch of pain; it is just a painful limp which can last anything from a few days to a few weeks.

Ah okay, hopefully the vet recognises it as just a sprain then, fingers crossed!

Thankyou! x
