morning all.
ive just been giving my little peruvian lad a good brush and i noticed his...ahem....trouser snake is showing. i let him be while i brushed the others then went back to him and its still there...
it doesnt look swollen but i dont think he can get it back in? its just there, poking half out......? do boars do this sometimes or does Chewy have a boy problem?

Made me laugh!

I'm just off to work, and that's made my morning....

Sorry, I realise you're worried, but I did chuckle!:))

its ok i chuckled when i saw it..but after half an hour an its still poking out, I'm a little concerned

he must really like you :)
leave him for a bit then go back and see if its still out. (i sound like a perv but i dont mean keep perving on him just see if it goes back or not)

That has happened to my boy Bandit a couple of times. Not only was it out, but it looked kind of strange. But both times, when I looked back after a few hours it was back to normal.

Firstly I'd check that he hasn't got any hay or hair etc caught round himself.
If not then sometimes boars, especially if they've been a little amorous, can get dried semen stuck. This sets almost like concrete and can cause the problem you mention. If this is the case, it looks a little like candle wax, the best way to deal with it is to disolve a desert spoon of sugar in a little boiling water, allow to cool but it does still need to be fairly warm and soak piggies 'bits' for about 15 mins. This should help to soften any dried semen which you will then be able to remove with out hurting him.

Obviously if you cant see anything like this then a trip to the vet might be worthwhile - dont want him damaging anything by dragging it in his bedding or standing on it.

Hope this helps :)

Standing on it! - ouch! Was going to suggest giving it a wash

Dried semen is easily removed without the need for ointment/cream or sugar solution.
Finger and thumb are applied to the area and the unwanted material removed, simple, safe, quick and effective. No fuss, no bother, then get on with the rest of your life!

Lol that Thread title is nearly as good as 'Boar Juice', I couldn't resist looking!
This is normal (it really confused me when my little Jack Russles 'bits' popped out and stayed for about 1/2 hour)
Just check he's not got any of his 'juice' (Has he been neutered, if so how long ago?)If there is any 'juice' gently massage around the area, he might get a bit excited with being 'touched down there'. Make sure there is no hair/straw/hay/bedding ect caught as this can be why he'll pop out his little sausage out, if after you've mssaged it to make sure there's nothing caught/stuck put him back in his cage and if it hasn't gone back in with an hour t might be worth going to the vets.
It would be better to use a moisturising cream (not shampoo or human hair conditioner) or as Teresa suggested sugar solution if there is any dried semen, it may be painfull to your piggy if you just get stuck in and try and rub it off as it dries hard.
Hope this helps
(sorry it sounds pervyrolleyesrolleyesrolleyes)

I think I would prefer to try AP's whippit quick idea first! :(|) x

With five boars, is it only a matter of time before one of mine present with some form of willy trouble?

Least I'll know what to do. :))

Any sign of it going back in yet, Spishkey?

i remember a few yrs back my jack puppy was having a little fun with his teddyrolleyes and his willy got stuck all the way out rolleyes i rang the vet as i could see he was in pain with it and i was told to put the shower on it for 15 mins or until we could pull it back over :)) i did do it in the end but it felt very rude like out of animal farmrolleyes but not that rude:(|):(|);):(|)

Text-book knowledge is all well and good but, in a case like, this there is nothing like hands on experience.

This has happened to me too with Joey and i just washed the area with cooled boiled water to get rid of the bits and it slid back in nicely. :))

sorry for the late reply, I'm never home weekends so its hard to get online! Chewys trousysnake went back in on its own in the end...after an hour or so, i can only imagine he'd been getting a little too excited over being brushed!
