Yesterday evening I fed the piggies their veg.. and I like to hand feed them sometimes. Yesterday, I noticed Willy struggling to get hold of the food .. and struggling to eat his veg at all. I immediately got him out and checked his teeth (especially after his history).

And yes, my fears were correct.. he had lost one of his top teeth and the other looked wonky too. I then was fussing over him and noticed his left ear was gunky too. :(

So went to the vets today to have a check over the teeth and look at his ear.

The other tooth fell out today :( so he only has two bottom teeth. The vet thinks it's from an injury - the only thing I can think of is that he bites the bars when he's excited about dinner. She says the teeth otherwise are in good condition, she felt the jaw area etc and nothing wrong.

His ear is another story - she originally thought it could be an abscess but then she inspected and couldn't see anything. It was just crusty around the edge and gunky inside - a light creamy colour. She has given me some drops for 10 days to see if it helps clear it.

Fingers crossed for Willy.

Oh poor little man. It is almost like his teeth are weak. Get well soon Willy.

oh get well soon Willy from the girls & I.
No top teeth, me thinks syringe feeding going to be one of your specialities for a while!

Lots of vibes to Willy X

I hope Willy gets better soon. What are you going to feed him on? I made a mix of grated carrot, apple & melon for one of mine who wasn't eating but you also add some ground up pellets to this & syringe feed.

I'm going to have to keep an eye on Mitch's teeth because he is always chewing the bars. I've tried rubbing the bars with Vick but he's back again after a couple of hours. He's a neutered male living with a sow(who won't with the other girls) & their runs are together. Even when I put him in with the other girls for a while he then chews the bars to get back to Minnie! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side ha ha

That sounded like it was very frightening for you, I hope you're alright. :)
Get well soon Willy!

I've had a toothless Willy before so it's not too bad.

He can manage grated veg and hay (he kind of sucks that up). Pellets are fine too as I'm now using harringtons which are quite small.

So really, he's a little fighter. And he has his loving wife to care for him.

He was a little this evening though, putting his drops in.. he shakes his head manically whenever anything touches it. He let the vet do it fine yesterday.. typical!

I struggle with eye drops too, they just know its coming don't they... Rolleyes

Fingers firmly crossed for your little man. Nerys, my usually very placid girl, does NOT like to have her right ear looked at (which is often waxy), and it can be quite a struggle to get drops in and clear it out, so you have my sympathy!
