hiya folks

my boar peter is 2 and a half years old and in the last few weeks he has been what i can only describe as moody. whilst rudy is himself playing , running around etc.. peter is not as active. he seems healthy and as eating drinking and sleeping ok no signs of illness at all. even his teeth are ok. for instance 2 days ago we brought out some red pepper for him and rudy which they both usually gulp down but he refused to eat it and so i brought in a couple of carrot slices and he ate one of them. him and rudy are not argueing either. do piggies react to the weather?

is it possible that either..

1. he gets moody when I'm out of the house for a few hours as he is used to me being around as I'm off work on long term sick therefor always around and hes used to that?

2. or he is just reacting to the change in weather?

thanks in advance
michelle xx

Do your piggies live indoors or outside?

i would be concerned if he is not wanting his favourite foods. personally i class a reduced appetite as a sign of illness. a change in behaviour can also be due to illness/pain. he may have something brewing so i think it would be best to have him checked by a vet.

if he was reacting to a change in the weather, ie it being colder, he would be eating more not less. :)

I agree. If he is off character, I would definitely take him to the vets to be on th save side. Loss of appetite is one of the earliest symptoms of illness.

my pigs are outdoors but in a shed and they are eating everything in sight. Guinea pigs should be eating more in the colder weather to put on some bulk xx

My pigs are acting they're usual selves and they are outdoors in a shed. I would deffo get him checked over hon x
