Ok So I Have Joined A Guinea Pig/ Rabbit Page Of Facebook. Most People Are Selling Rabbits, But This One Lady Advertised A male Guinea Pig. Ive Kept An Eye On Her Advertisement & Discovered That She Has No Idea How Old This Male Pig Is, She Claims She Has No Room For Him, But Then Tells A Customer That She Has 3 Female Guinea Pigs Due Any Day & 1 Has Just Given Birth At The Weekend!
Today While Browsing The Facebook Page, She Is Now Advertising A Male & Female Pig That Must Be Sold Together & The Female Pig May Be Pregnant!!
Now In Australia Guinea Pig Breeding Doesn't Seem A Huge Problem, But I Feel These Guinea Pigs Must Be Being Mistreated & Continuously Bred.
Also Is Aus It Doesn't Seem Common At All To Neuter A Male, So How Can This Woman Possibly Say they Must Go Together? This Poor Female Will Be Bred To Death:0
I Really Want To Take Those Poor Piggies & Treat Them Right! But I Cant:( I Already Have 5 Piggies & If I Did Take Them That Would Encourage Her To Breed More.
How Can People Be So Insensitive?
Should I Ask Her To Post Pics So I Can Check Their Condition?

Oh i know what it's like when you see things like this on facebook i was in a general for sale group for all things and one guy kept posting on it he tried selling his parrot his male guinea pigs and baby rabbits that had been just born and its like how can someone just do that and want to sell there pets, he kept posting from £50 to free, i tried showing him a rescue but he just said thanks and posted again a few days later !
It's such a shame people can be so heartless !
I'm not sure what you can do but asking for pictures is a good start ! do you have any local rescues ? (:

Thanks twiams, But Ive Just Noticed She Has Sold Them To a Lady Who Says She Has A lonely Female Who Would Love A Males Company So She Said She Would Take Both Male & Female. So Now I'm Guessing Their Will Be Another Irresponsible Breeder Out There.
There Isn't A Rescue Near Me & Not Too Many Is Australia As Breeding Is Not Such A Huge Problem Here. I Have A Friend Who Has Bred Her Guinea Pigs Before & Everything Has Gone Smoothly. I Have Also Had A pet Shop Piggie Who Was Pregnant When I Purchased her & Thank Goodness All Went well. It Just Sounded To Me Like Her Pigs Breed Freely Which Would Mean Inbreeding & Lack Of Care.
I Was Hoping I Could Have Got A Photo Before She Sold Them To see What Kind Of Condition They Were In. I Find It Expensive To Feed The 5 Piggies I Have, So I Could Only Imagine What It Costs To feed Alot More! This Is Why I'm Guessing Lack Of Care.

We actually do have a problem with breeding...... that's why there's so many in the pet shops! :...:(
I heard a guy once trying to sell off his piggies, they didn't have room for them.....i just hope he at least found another shop for them...... :...

Oh yeah and i had a guy tell me once (a sales rep he saw my piggie calendar) that he used to sell them as a kid, a good money earner he said.......i very quickly peed him off from the office in absolute disgust!

Thanks For The Info Glynis:) I Didn't Realise It was A Big Problem Here, As Out Our way I Hardly See Them Anywhere. The RSPCA Occasionally Has Them & I Once Heard The Pet Shop Guy Say They Are Hard To Get.
I Cant See How Piggies Can Be A Good Money Earner As They Cost Me A Fortune lol:p
I Just Hoe Those Poor Piggies Get Well looked After Though I Doubt It:( So Sad:0
