I am being homechecked tomorrow with the view to adopting two young sows. They are both visually impaired/partially sighted and from the photo look like real little sweeties. My heart went out to them! x>>

As many of you know I already have a blind sow called Princess. She gets on fine but I have to take extra care when opening the hutch and when she is out in the hutch as she just sits in the sun ... basking!

A nice hutch is all ready in my guinea pig shed for these babes. Although I have been homechecked before adopting Milly and Molly, I am keeping everything crossed that all goes well and we can welcome these two little sows into our lives.

I haven't met them yet but hopefully if all goes well I will collect on Saturday.

Fingers crossed for me please!

Best of luck! I am sure that you will pass with flying colours, but like me, you will porbably be apprehensive about it anyway!

Btw: How are your piggies doing? It's been a LOOOONG time since we've heard (and seen) from gorgeous Umbrella, Parasol and the others! ;)

Sounds like you are the most experienced person for them, I am sure the homecheck will be fine. They will be lucky to have such a good home.

I've got everything crossed that things turn out as you wish and the lil' piggies come home to you. x

Yes I haven't been around much - I am working full-time although term time only and been completing a School Business Management course since May 2009. Deadline for work submission is coming up next week! :...:...

Umbrella is doing fab. He brings us such joy! x>> I only have to look at him as he is popcorning around and remember just how desperate he was when I fostered him from Summerleaze nearly a year ago. He is still Mr Rumbler ... he rumbles and rumbles and jumps for joy! I adore him.

He is deeply in love with Parasol. It has been hard work to get her where she is today - more confident. She was just so scared but now she is up at the hutch door waiting for me to tickle her under the chin.

I wish I could turn back the clock and rescue Umbrella all over again. Then match him with Parasol who came straight from a breeder who never gave her the light of day since her birth in the guinea pig breeding shed.

Very satisfying ... thanks for asking. Sorry if I have gone on a bit! :))

I will post some photos very soon - I promise!

Good luck with the check although it doesn't sound like you need it and any rescue would be lucky to find you! It's lovely to hear that you're not put off by their sight problems. Hope all goes well :)

Good luck tomorrow, I'm sure all will be fine .
I know what you mean about being nervous. I was for my homecheck by Nutmeg but I've got my gorgeous boy, Newton, sitting here looking at me. x)

I'm so pleased to hear Umbrella and Parasol are doing so well. It's hard to believe that it's a year since Umbrella came into LB from that terrible terrible place. He was in such a sorry state - I remember it well :(

His dad and brother have remained here and continue to do well too - they are both very tame which is amazing considering the conditions they were kept in.

Anyway, before I go off topic again - good luck with the home visit. You'll be just fine I'm sure. You're a great piggy parent and the little sows will be very fortunate indeed to be living with you.

I'm really pleased you have decided to adopt some more too :)

Best Wishes xx

Thanks everyone for keeping fingers crossed for me.

The RSPCA homecheck went really well and I have got the greenlight to adopt them! :):)

I am really looking forward to meeting the sows tomorrow .... the hutch is all ready.

I will keep you posted how things go.

Aww I'm so pleased for you! Can't wait to see the pics of your new additions x)

Congratulations!

I am looking forward to pictures!

It is one of the most gratifying experiences to see neglected piggies slowly coming out of their shell and thrive, but it take a lot of patience and persistence to get them there!

Umbrella and Parasol have both touched my heart and I am so glad that they are doing do well together!

Yay, well done. I new it would go well for you :)p I to am looking forward to pics of your new girls. Good luck for tomorrow. If you are anything like me, you will have a sleepless night tonight and tomorrow night :) xx

Yey! Glad everything went well (had a feeling it would) can't wait to see pics. x

i am really pleased for you.

Which RSPCA is it. I thought bristol was still giving any pigs to a breeder in south bristol.

Congratulations on getting your piggies look forward to seeing the pics and sorry i had not got round to reading your thread sooner rolleyes

I met the sows today and immediately fell in love! x)

They are SO sweet and placid. Obviously they were disorientated by coming away from their RSPCA foster carer who had cared for them so well for four months and then the journey home. However, being that their sight is not 100%, if any sight at all, they were calm and cuddly.

They are now tucked up nice and safe for the night.

Thanks for the encouraging postings.
We haven't decided on names yet ... I will take some photos soon to show them off.

They sound lovely - really pleased for you and them that they've ended up with you :)

How did their first night go?
