Wobbly On Back Legs

Our little guy had a few days like that just before Christmas. We think he caught an infection as all have had colds. He stopped eating, felt very bony and then he would almost rock sideways. They Initially thought it was a chest infection but couldn't understand the balance issue. His oxygen levels were very low. They kept him in and he deteriorated rapidly over a few hours to the point where we were told we had to make a decision about what was best for him.
We decided we'd leave it until we took our other guinea to be checked over later in the day. I then asked some reiki practitioners to do some distance healing and prepared my kids for the worse - case scenario.
Well....he made a miraculous turn around in the next few hours. The vet had given him glucose so they wanted just to keep him in a bit longer in case he crashed once the glucose came out of system. Next day he came home, he is on METACAM and Baytril. One is anti-biotic, one pain relief. He is not quite back to his old self but definitely getting there. He seems to have a bit of lisp/wheeze when he squeaks for food but only noticeable on high-pitched squeaks. We will see how he is when medicine finishes.

It's a good sign that his eyes aren't affected as that would indicate a neurological issue.

He is adorable! I hope the Septrin helps him feel better soon.

Oh no! I hope he gets better soon and that he is ok when the medicine finishes xx

He is seeming better already. He’s still got a head tilt but he isn’t as wobbly on his legs and he hasn’t been falling over either. The Septrin has definitely seemed to help. And thank you - we still can’t get over how cute he is.

Don't these young piggies know how to give their owners a heart attack ;) Time is a healer, he looks a fighter, and will probably learn to love attention he's going to be getting whilst he recovers. As unfortunate as it is how it's happened, it's really going to impact how he interacts with you, but that can only be in a good way
