Womble and the plum fairy. :)

A few more concerning and weird looking poops. I'm a bit concerned.

I have started to weigh him daily, tonight was 1.128kg. Last week 5/12/2020, he was 1.20kg and a week before that he was 1.19kg. I'm keeping a very close eye on his weight and poohs. I'm thinking on contacting the out of hours again tomorrow. I'll leave him be for tonight, he's eating, drinking and he's had enough stress. He's taken all his meds tonight and I'm spacing out the Fibreplex as much as I can. The vet didn't prescribe the fibreplex. I got it myself. Could that in anyway be causing him problems? I just want to do what's best for him.

I'm really stressing. 😖 I don't feel well. I think I need to calm myself a little.

He's still eating and still pooping and his nuts probably hurt a bit but he'll go to sleep tonight so don't stress. It's a situation to deal with but not super-urgent and if he loses a little more weight before he starts going back up I wouldn't be surprised. The antibiotic can muck their guts up a bit but it can sort itself out and the probiotic will help. I hear some pigs are very sensitive to the ABs but he's not anyway near as bad as they sounded. Mine have done similarly strange poops on antibiotics and I ended up thinking it was just par for the course. Healing takes a bit of time... just see how he is tomorrow ❤

Thank you for your reply. He means the world to me.

He's still looking a little swollen. I'm just wondering what's normal. I'm overly worried I think.

As long as he is eating, moving around and pooping just keep a keen eye on him for now x The thin poops are probably produced on the day he had his op and he would not have eaten a great deal. Ted’s poops have been the same this last week, on and off, I think it’s partly the AB’s too they seem to disrupt the gut x
Ted was a little swollen around his op for a day or two when he was neutered, as long as it’s not weeping or looking very angry it will go down in a few days time

He's eating and pooping. I'm seeing little patches of brown. I'm not sure if that's pooh/wee patches or weeping. I am 2nd guessing myself and worrying at every turn.

Are the little brown patches anything to worry about or is it just me being hyper vigilant?

Oh I would be guessing too, to be honest, have you had a look underneath to see if his scar is ok? I don’t really know what that is?

I think if you are really worried then seek advice from a vet, could you do a phone consultation? It’s typical that it’s a weekend, these things always happen then. How is he in himself?

He seems alright. He's happy to eat and everything but he's hiding away a little more than usual feeling sorry for himself.

Womble's had most of his meds.
His weight has fluctuated a little bit but gone up.
He was 1.127 kg yesterday evening.
This morning he was 1.120 kg.
This evening he was 1.141 kg.

I have taken some pics of his stitches for reference also.
He is eating/drinking but hiding a little more. Probably because he's feeling a little sorry for himself.

The babies have gained weight also.
When we first got them on 15/11/2020
Pinto was 267g and Truffle was 278g
On 5/12/2020 Pinto was 395g and Truffle was 435g
This evening Pinto was 449g and Truffle was 500g.

They've gotten so big! Truffle is nearly half a Womble!

I think that is to be expected. He will be feeling a bit beat up so that’s natural really. keep up with daily weighing. make sure he is eating and pooping and pee ok. Sometimes if they pee and sit there in the same spot the wound can get a little bit damp and any blood that’s on the wound can leach out, it’s noticeable on white sheeting or towels. It could be just that, or a bit of poo that’s got wet. just keep an eye on it.
Here is a photo of my Bill‘s tummy after two mammary tumours was removed, it might help you compare as to what’s healthy. This was taken on day three. Womble’s weight is fine, the little ones are doing very well too. Womble‘s scar looks very neat and no oozing. keep an eye out for those little marks and see if you can find out where they are coming from x

Don’t forget the poop out out runs at least a day behind what you are seeing so reflects what has been eaten the previous day or so.
I personally think that metacam dose is too low and could be increased and given twice daily to alleviate pain and swelling. One of my piggies weighing 1kg is on 0.3ml of dog metacam twice daily.

Weigh once at the same time as weight can fluctuate during the day. I hope he’s feeling better tomorrow.

Me too but I called a consultation with an out of hours vet yesterday regarding this and they agreed with exotic vet.

Thank you for your kind wishes.
I'm recording his weight twice a day in the morning and evening to make sure he doesn't lose too much weight during the day.

You need only weigh once every 24 hours. If you’re going to weigh twice a day, then you really should only compare morning to morning and evening to evening weight. If you weigh too much you pick up too much fluctuation and it can make things unclear.

That's what I'm doing to be honest. I just want to cover all bases and not be surprised. I think it's my anxiety talking.

I think you shouldn’t ‘give in’ to your anxiety and weigh just the once. It’ll be just as good a way to monitor him ☺️
