Wood Based Pellets ?

My pigs are normally on fleece that is changed every day, But I'm away 3 days and my neighbor is going to pop in daily to feed and water them. Can I put in wood based pellets litter it says on the bag for cat's and small animals, it would mean they were cleaner till I get home.

I would not use them as they could hurt their delicate feet.

never thought of that. I'll just go and get sawdust even though I hate the smell of it.

Oh I use them sometimes, just put a layer of hay on top to cushion little toes

Try Snowflake Soft Chip rather than shavings. Only tried it for a day in the haybox ( usually use megazorb or fitch) but already impressed with it.

I use wood based cat litter for my litter trays I then cover with a layer of hay and had no issues it drys the wee out so is good for absorbancy. I would say ok for whole cage for few days provided you cover with generous amount of hay. You could ask your piggy sitter to top up floor hay daily too!

We use the cat lit wood pellets from Home Bargains for our rabbits litter boxes. If covered in a layer of hay they'll probably be OK. We use either Auboise, Raviera or Bliss Basic instead of shavings. Only trouble is they only come in 20 Kg bags.
