not sure if this is the correct place to post so apologies! iv just had a bag of snowflake soft chip delivered however its got a puncture hole in and the shavings are leaking out.. is it still safe to use? i really worry about things like this due to potential contamination? am i just overthinking? what would you do in this situation please?
 
It’s fine to use - there is no risk associated, it just makes a bit of a mess
I lost count of the amount of times over 40 years I’ve had a bag which has a tear in it

Please take a deep breath.

Unless the falling out shavings next to the hole have got damp by being stored in the damaged packing in an environment that is open to the elements (unlikely but always worth checking), the bag is perfectly safe to use.
Mould can only develop in a moist environment but that is the one issue you want to check for - the same as with any punctured pellet bags.

If those shavings are dry, then the bag is perfectly safe to use as the damage is more likely to have happened during transport.

If you are unhappy, you can always contact the seller for a complaint if their wares do not arrive intact.
