Worried About A Black Crusty Growth On Gps Nose, Also Has What Looks Like Dirt In His Nostrils.

I found what a thought was a small nip off his brother on GPs nose on Monday and have been keeping an eye on it and it wasn't really getting better or worse, today though it seems to have doubled in size, it looks like a black crusty growth but it's quite hard to get a look at it because of his hair, I also noticed a black substance in his nostrils. I've booked an appointment with the vet for later but was wondering if anyone could give me some idea?

My first thought would be some kind of fungal, Ringworm in particular, as it is a common spot for it to occur. The black up his nostrils doesn't fit though but it could be dirt.

It sounds very much either like a scab of some sort or caked dirt. A scab on the nose can sometimes be the beginnings of ringworm (from scratching), but as Helen has said, it does not ususally come with dirty nostrils. That points more towards him pushing his nose into things he shouldn't.
