Junior Guinea Pig
I had my boys out the sofa on Thursday night for their usual cuddles, but I noticed Dylan didn't want to be touched, he just seemed a little moody to me, so I put them back in their cage. 20 mins later I was in their room and I noticed Dylan had fur missing on one side. I hadn't noticed it when I got the boys out for cuddles, so I presume it happened as I put him back, my other half said it was almost as though something on us had set off an allergic reaction.
I did some research and found it looked like mange mites. That night I ordered some products from gorgeous guineas to help soothe his skin, and after researching the different ivermectin, I went for beaphar, as I knew I could get it the next day. I also bought some anti fungal spray but I'm yet to use that.
Now he has fur missing on his tummy and the other side now, and he's still scratching, although he seems brighter than he did on thurs/Friday. The impression I got with ivermectin though is that it was pretty quick in dealing with the problem, but I'm more upset at the fact he could be pain. Should I just take him to the vets? The cost is not an issue obviously, even if the vet was to prescribe xeno450 at a higher price than I could find online, I don't care really, I don't want him suffering more than he should. The pigs are having floor time now and he keeps trying to popcorn about but stops to have a scratch
I've included a pic but the quality isn't great.
It looks like that on his tum too.
